I really glad FurthurNet was such a positive thing. FurthurNet was a good time. I smile every time I think back to those days. I remember staying up countless nights with Jamie and cranking out code to make things better. Almost lost my girlfriend(my wife now) about 10 times, because I spent more time working on FurthurNet then I did with her. There was a lot more we wanted to do with FurthurNet, but there was not enough time in the day.
Mike Wren and his "team" were the community guys. They deserve a lot a credit for what they did.
bt.etree.org is a great site. I use it all the time. There are definitely things that could be done to make it more fun and FuthurNet like.
Anyways... I miss truxel.

trux is still kickin, if you can believe it... best bot eva!!! (though if you had seen what mgoldey's bot became aware of, you'd be very afraid... it's got access to Google, which means it's obviously searching for Sarah Connor)
and FurthurNet is still alive. not many rootservers left these days, but content is still being shared. some great work you guys did, and i'm so glad to have helped test and package some of the later Mac versions - a lot of fun working with that dev team.
i still imagine an überSugarmegs.Furthur.bt.db.etree-type of collaboration, sort of what gazelle.etree is looking like but with much more integration of tags and db entries and the like. just one big mesh of everything in a social-network and information overload, with the power of BT behind it now. of course, life gets in the way of such lofty endeavors, as usual...

<rum_drunken_reminisce> If it wasn't for me searching for a couple abb shows I went to and then dl'ing furthur, I may have never learned the importance of lossless audio, nor its ins and out; I never would have become a huge fan of several bands, and I never would have mumble mumble mumble..<rum_drunken, remember> I would be a totally different person in a totally different section of the universe. As someone who was a minor fan of the grateful dead and phish (and others) before I stumbled upon furthur, I think its very powerful that a certain website/program led me to a community and much deeper appreciation of certain music that has directly been involved in my evolution as a person. I'm not unique, but maybe the experience of one website/program causing that might be unique to our particular time and place. I was at a unique moment where instead of a band leading me to find a website, the opposite happened, and it grew from there </rum_drunken_reminisce>

I think it still means what it's always meant since its been spelled that way
