How are you guys going to approach the two Live Album Session shows knowing that they are going to be used for that purpose? It seems like it would put extra pressure on you guys.

Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: We've been trying to figure out how to do an official Live Album for awhile now yet none of the traditional methods seemed feasible/logical to us. Option A. would've been to multi-track a single show and hope we play amazing and release the choice cuts (ala Slip Stitch & Pass) - that seemed to put even more pressure on one specific performance, and wouldn't really be possible, set-up wise, in some of the smaller venues we play. Option B. would've been to multi-track a run of shows, or even an entire tour and realease the choice cuts from that (ala A Live One) -- well, we quickly learned that wasn't a realistic option based on numerous things... primarily the costs to have someone multitrack so many shows, but also, there would be an inconsistency in mic placement, setup/natural room reverbs/stage set ups/pa set ups etc etc. that would, in turn, create an an album full of live tracks that didn't have a consistent 'sound'. It just wouldn't have worked in the same way A Live One or any other live album of that caliber worked (w/o an extra couple tens-of-thousands of dollars)
So.... we came up with this idea. Play a couple full, two set shows, at an actual studio, with a complete live room/stage and room for 75-100 people. We're working on a beer sponsor, so hopefully, it'll be a free beer event with lot of close friends/fans and, ideally, kind of re-create the relaxed, house party vibe we had when the bad started playing shows at my loft space!
But uhhhhh.... yes. It puts an incredible amount of pressure on us to KNOW that we are paying by the minute to create something that is pre-emtively decided to be released. Thanks. ;)

That sounds really cool!
Indeed. Sounds very cool. Will buy!
Oh I am fucking in. Sign me up.
Also, I have a friend, whom you've met, who owns a brewery. Just sayin.
Yup, I'm in too. Lets do this. I never got to see an actual show at the Castle, so... this will be the next best thing.
Now, for the important question: What will it be calllllllled?

Hit me up if you want me to propose the idea to him.
I just realized that by the time the live recording shows come up, I will no longer be a 5 minute drive from the venue. :frustrated:
That being said, if we are settled into our new place, I'm definitely in for both nights.
If you don't hook up with birdman's guy, another good option would be anything from Night Shift (https://www.nightshiftbrewing.com/contact/) or Trillium (http://www.trilliumbrewing.com/contact-form). I so hope that we are not out of town for these shows...
yeah can we get an advanced ticket notice for those? I don't want to miss out.
Will any of you guys have some extra crash space at all? Everybody I knew in Boston has now moved away haha.
Can we hang up tapestries and streamers to recreate the castles vibe?

YES!!!
Also, we need to hang up Yopper's childhood blanket so that it faces the stage.

If all goes according to plan there might even be photo evidence to verify :-o
Also.... I will need your signatures for the Cambridge event. I plan on petitioning the band to play Fractal Fuck with the lyrics. Or maybe we can do an audience sing-along to start one of the nights to get captured on tape. Something.
Sorry Scott :beers:

Nice cover. RtF is an amazing Jazz Fusion Supergroup, great pick.
Tour sorta snuck up on me.
This weekend is gonna be tough. Probably have to miss one of the VA shows.
Last night was a ripper.
Lunch In B went places.
As did Fading Time and some other stuff.
Cannot wait to hear it again.
Wish I was going to Richmond tonight.
Had a great time seeing the dudes play and hanging out with Paug crew and my daughter, Althea, came along for her first Jaunt.
Thanks for coming out! Last night was a lot of fun. It was nice to meet Althea.
Got a few shows up so far. Check out the Gettysburg show for something different, first set was acoustic w/ Tyler on mandolin for a good portion of the tunes...

Stoked for the shows tomorrow and Thursday.
Bring heat to match Florida's!
Enjoyed my first ever jaunt last night. I'm quite impressed by these fellows' willingness and ability to improvise. Good to see ya, Scotty.
Thanks for coming out dude. That was a pleasant surprise!
My first jaunt was a blast too! That devil's haircut was a burner. And the cover of fearless was awesome! Refreshing rendition for sure.
Can't wait for tomorrow!

Hold up.
You guys skipped The Southern.
What's up with you holding back on the shows that I attend (aside from the fact that they're great shows...)?
lol. I knew that was coming.
We are just waiting on the sound guy to send us the SBD feed from that night.

I'm enjoying the Camel show right now.
Giving this one a spin right now! https://archive.org/details/jauntee2017-06-20.flac16_/jauntee2017-06-20d2t02.flac
28 minute Before The Storm is super legit. It gets into one of my favorite types of Jauntspaces around the 18 minute mark when they find this wild, crashing and careening peak climax. So fucking great. Wild and unhinged and super rhythmic. And then it settles into a relaxed bluesy groove after. Perfect. And then it peaks AGAIN! Solid contender for best-ever performance of the tune.
Wednesday is coming fast!

Thanks. ;)
So, this is tonight...
Roll call?
Hope they bring it. :rawk:

How was Night 1?
Spectacular.
And I have a ripping hangover.
Can't wait for round 2.
It was awesome, though we may have put a pretty big dent on the beer supply, especially if Lord Hobo isn't replenishing it.
I think I got this, though the Astral Turtle Dance is questionable. I asked gumbo what they had played, as I couldn't remember and hadn't written it down.

Man, I had such a blast the last two night. Such a unique experience, and I was so happy to share it with many of the same friends and fans that have been seeing us for 6+ years now in Boston... dating back to the shows in our loft space. Super high energy crowd all around!
We didn't play perfectly, but we never do so, that's okay.... I think its safe to say, out of the 4 sets, we can compile at least something worthy of releasing.
Those Lord Hobo beers were definitely deliciously dangerous... :beerbang:

Yeah this was cool. I don't think perfection is totally necessary... it was an accurate portrayal of a band who happens to playing really fucking good, who are at the top of their game, and are totally 100% unique in what they do compared to the rest of the scene.
Every set had multiple "arrival" moments where the music "got there" and grew with excitement. I was happy to see that you guys were totally loose and willing to bend the music and get weird and melt or crash into different styles and rhythmic shifts.
Also cool was seeing a room full of people who knew the changes and were also singing the lyrics and as hyped about them as I am. Usually I'm the only one singing or pantomiming my dance moves with the hits/changes. This should hopefully prove to be a coalescing point to springboard the scene to the next level. Concentrate the power, and launch it furthur.
Really good times. Super glad I got to see that epic Jauntspace before you guys move too!
It was good to see you man. Im glad you made the trek!

Scotty, you were asking about Texas - if you want to make a splash in Austin you should try and get booked for an aftershow inside at Stubbs one or both nights Ween is playing the big stage. Would be an epic crowd and a great chance to open some minds to the Jauntee.

Right? I don't get why these guys aren't blowing up. I really think it has to do with Phish still being such a gravitational force in the jam world... many people just don't have room for another band in their hearts/brains. I love the Disco Biscuits, but those guys got shoved out by the Jauntee. Jauntee and Phish is about all I can keep track of haha. Good think U-Melt isn't still around, or I'd have some serious problems!
But yeah man... this is super legit. Lightman is so good. That Renaissance Man jam is white hot too!
I wish I knew what the coda's lyrics were about the wide receiver part haha
You guys are dicks, U-Melt was the best jamband, compositionally, besides Phish. Those guys were fucking geniuses at songwriting! They truthfully should have been the next big one, but their song/band names were too goofy sometimes.

Poll: 96% Of Bands Looking For Slightly Better Drummer
WASHINGTON—According to a Zogby poll released this week, 96 percent of rock groups across the nation are currently in search of a slightly better drummer. "Nearly all bands surveyed indicated that, while their current drummer could keep time and was 'pretty good,' they certainly wouldn't mind playing with someone who could handle quicker rhythms and maybe knew a few more beats," pollster Will Materson said. "Additionally, most bands seemed to indicate they would be open to any drummer who could just be a bit more versatile in general, like Adam, who is completely awesome but is currently playing with those other guys who let him sing lead on a couple songs." The poll also found that 72 percent of bands think it would be pretty cool to get a band member who could play piano on a few tracks.
After listening to the last night of Bakers Dozen, I started thinking that The Jauntee would do a great cover of Most Events Aren't Planned.

I'll admit, it was a little weird to see this guy, who I've seen onstage playing to thousands and thousands of people alongside Phil Lesh..... now, in his 70's, playing some side stage at a festy to less than 100 people before my band goes on. I guess not everyone gets to go out 'on top' do they?

Checking in fronm peach fest! Our set was fine and dandy, whatever...
Way more cool than that.... I met Trey's parents! We chatted backstage for awhile today.... also, I played after John Molo's band last night and met him, who I've always been a huge fan of. So cool!
all three of those thinigs are cool. but I wonder what trey's folks were doing there? Just there for the fest? Are you sure it wasn't just some random old couple? :hereitisyousentimentalbastard
Ya know... I was wondering the same thing myself. They did tell me they lived near Princeton, NJ so that convinced me. I guess that's not all that far from where Peach Fest takes place so they were probably just there supporting their son's friend Mike! Also... they were def getting their drink on backstage.... which they probably cant do at their sons lame backstage anymore so they gotta party somewhere :smoke:

Very cool that you met Molo. Dude's a beast. Love his playing.
He couldn't have a been a nicer guy too... even stuck around to watch our set for a bit! I can't remember the name of his band, but apparently the bass player was in Jefferson Starship...
He's still playing music and getting paid for it.
MoonAlice

Last nights show in Minneapolis was awesome, I had a blast! Some really good jamz throughout, but I thought the blowin up the b line through black bart was tops.
Also, I love seeing shows when like 80% of attendees are over the age of 65.. :-o

Hey Scottie let me know if you have any idea what time yall will be playing on Friday here.
theres actually a big 150 state anniversary celebration going on at the capitol a couple blocks from the venue so it might be a little hectic getting down there.
also, FWIW Wilco is playing at the local ampitheatre that night...maybe ya'll will catch some heads in town.
