i'm finally getting a place of my own and need something to put on the walls. i've been waiting for years to get some pollocks and finally have.
i ending up buying two today. the first one the boston 20th avn. show (my first show). then a coventry pollock from cactusfan! i'm so stoked to hang these.
hopefully i can find a 8/11/09 and a Burgettstown Pa 09 print as well for reasonable print. both are not pollock's.
is there any way to found out which fall 09 shows pollock is doing?

Only speculating here (I heard he was doing the Gorge this summer at Alpine)...but I'd guess either Syracuse or MSG if I were to guess.
If you really want one, you should be able to find a Burgettstown print on the cheap.
Seems like they like to use Pollock for 2-night runs, so Cinci or MSG would be possibilities.
But really, it's kind of irrelevant because Pollock jumped the shark a long time ago.
jump the shark??? what does that mean?
Quote
a term to describe a moment when somethin that was once great has reached a point where it will now decline in quality and popularity. Origin of this phrase comes from a Happy Days episode where the Fonz jumped a shark on waterskis. Thus was labeled the lowest point of the show.
You have to forgive Matt, he's a big fan of Happy Days. :-D
That's a pretty common term around the 'ole internet.
Love the 'Fonz.

Definitely an opinion.

Feel free to disagree, but at least cite some examples.
In regards to whether the 03s are debatable, I've never seen the Camden 03 in person, but from the pics it looks to be on the same level as the 99/00s.
The 07 10KLF looks pretty sweet too.
Yeah, I have the 10KLF Robot print but I wouldn't call it a great Pollock. Bringing back the robot was nice, but kind of cheesy.
The Camden 03 is nice, but it's a Linocut and doesn't have the same feel as the 99/00's up close.
Oh yeah, I really like the New Orleans Relief poster too.
yea pollock sucks!
I mean, if you're the kind of guy who goes to Mike solo shows, loves the Page McConnell album and saw "a few" Pork Tornado shows, I suppose every Pollock would look great on your walls.
I tell people my Alpine Pollocks are from '97. They all get super jealous.

off of the top of my head i liked the foo dog(great commentary on the US economy), spring construction(the idea is great as are the colors), both alpine prints were cool (each night featured a return to the junta years mirroring the return of an innocent phish), the gorge prints are very nice. the both are on thick stock and have great colors. maybe i'm just a pollock fanboy, but i can agree that the mock show print left much to be desired.
I was pretty disappointed with the print quality of the Gorge prints.
Decent art, poor execution.

well then. it's clear i have no idea what i'm talking about. i guess i just like what i like.
The Alpine is on thick stock? Mine isn't.
I think my Gorge prints are the next to get framed. I'm currently debating whether or not to frame them together or separately.
I vote seperate, but matching frame jobs.

Yeah, I was leaning towards that and the colors are similar enough to where matching frames/mattes would look sharp. I've seen a few pics floating around, but nothing that I'm too crazy about. We'll see what she comes up with.

Multiple prints in the same frame never rarely looks classy.
Is that a pic of the Gorge pollocks? All I see is "Account Inactive"
got one of the spring construction posters signed to me from Pollock
i dig that one, but like everyone else has said, his work has not been as good recently
would love to get the coventry one, just to have

Love the art to the Gorge prints, haven't actually seen one, so I guess I can't comment on quality.
Like everything about the Alpines.
And to go back to 03, the Hamptons are very nice. Coventry is a decent print, and good quality.
But... my opinions (which I guess I have to cite) are probably just wrong.
I like the Alpine 09s but they are very thin

I would agree with you, Will. I have one of the 03 Hamptons hanging in my house.
This one: (http://www.phishposterarchive.com/phish-hampton-1-03-03.jpg)
The '03's Hampton's are Sick, Sick, SICK! I don't care what espresso beans says.
I also liked the Alpine's too...but I didn't think they were incredible or anything. Also, "jump the shark" is kind of a misnomer, because in order for Pollock to have "jumped the shark" he would have to keep getting outlandish and ridiculous and gimmicky until his gimmicks got out of control and no longer made sense...
Opinions on art can't really be wrong, I just heartily disagree.
I had the Hampton 03 Eye for a while, the printing was just not sharp enough for me to hang/display it. People love those prints, again, just not for me.
Once you own a hand pressed 99/00 Pollock it's hard to look at the linocut prints without a little skepticism.

I will agree with this 110 percent. My dissapointment with the 03 Hampton prints was also their lack of hand printing. They looked sharp with all the colors and stuff, but part of the "cool factor" to me in getting my 1999/2000 Pollock's was the fact that they were hand made, hand printed by Pollock, and this was evident in everything having to do with the print. The mono/bi or tri-chrome characteristics, the printing imperfections, the obvious tell tale signs of being made by hand. The 2.0 and 3.0 pollock's that I've seen don't contain these same characteristics at all, which makes them way less cool, imo, than the 1.0 Pollock's.
So can we get the Jumping the Shark analogy back?
He's doing 3D prints and not hand printing his work...

I haven't seen the "3D" with glasses... but the color version, while very busy, is slightly enjoyable to me. I think it is way too busy...but I do like it a little bit at the same time. I definitely don't detest it. I don't understand the 3D print at all...what the attraction is...what the motivation was...anything about it.
