technical notes:
Using SoX, I adjusted the speed/pitch of the recording.
I used the Schoeps CMC3/mk4 source (shnid 3209) as a reference.
It's probably not totally completely perfect. But it's wicked close.
And it probably won't get better than this until we get a transfer straight from the DAT,
without the cassette generation. But who knows if or when the master DATs will ever be available.

I also added gain using SoX.  I added +3 dB to both sets.

There were a few minor cuts that needed to be fixed.
Each spot that was fixed was patched with one of the following sources:

Schoeps CMC34 > Sonosax SX-M2 > Panasonic SV-255
http://db.etree.org/shn/3209
or
(FOB) Schoeps mk4 > kc5 > cmc6 > Sonosax SX-M2 > Panasonic SV-255 > Sony DT-120
http://db.etree.org/shn/96298

The following spots needed to be patched:

set 1 tape flip - patched with shnid 3209
d1t05 - "Fluffhead" - [15:22] to [15:24]
d1t06 - "It's Ice"- [00:00] to [00:07]

set 2 tape flip - patched with shnid 3209
d2t07 - "The Squirming Coil"- [10:13] to [10:17]
d2t08 - "Tweezer Reprise"- [00:00] to [00:05]

encore break pause - patched with shnid 96298
d2t10 - "encore break" - [00:12] to [04:22]
(shnid 3209 did not have the complete encore break, which is why shnid 96298 was used for this patch.)

Oh! That! No, no, no, you're not ready to step into The Court of the Crimson King. At this stage in your training an album like that could turn you into an evil scientist.

I use records for that and don't have to justify it to my friends.

Glad to see you're still in the game...

Lenny asked me to do a few of these, as the patches and particularly the speed adjustments was more than he thought he could handle.  but he really convinced me because he told me that he's got this new source Sugarbush '95.  7/2/95 was my first show.  how could I turn him down?  (I couldn't).  in addition to sugarbush, Lenny's also got the great wood shows, and the two MSG shows...  1995 is my favorite year, so I told him to bring it on  :phish:

^Are you in quasi-retirement?
If so, glide magazine should be doing a retrospective on you as well

Yeah, sort of, I guess.  I don't have any way to transfer DATs anymore.  And I don't really have any free time anymore.  But I still enjoy tracking, editing, and seeding a few things from time to time.  I don't know what I'd say to glide magazine.  "I used to have more free time, and I transferred a lot of DATs.  Now I don't transfer nearly as many, but I still add stuff to the etree database. And I use the bt.etree.org RSS feed in utorrent to automatically download all the phish shows."  There's your retrospective.
