I use records for that and don't have to justify it to my friends.

G. Augusto

Every time I hear Bowie, I always hear the Dr. Seuss part in my head.
Kinda like the Cavern horns....

Llama indicates
that the heat be on full blast.
Then they play Bouncin'.

The Divided Sky
is perfect and Fee is great.
It's Ice is well done.

My Sweet One is cool
and Guelah has a sweet Asse
Festival in there.

Lizards is lovely;
and this set just keeps flowing
with great stuff like Foam.

Foam is done just right
and then it's time for Bowie.
Dr. Seuss chant, lol

Ripping Bowie is
a pretty great set closer.
Set one was all good

Golgi starts set two
with a distinct bit of heat.
Followed by Coil.

Trey's tone is gorgeous
And Page's solo is cool.
Brother rips it up.

Sparkle is ok.
Landlady's cool always
I wish they'd shelf Punch.

Not a huge fan of
Destiny Unbound but the
bass breakdown is cool.

The Mike's Groove is strong
facemelt and Lawn Boy gives us
a chance to regroup.

Chalk Dust Torture then
rawks up the set closer slot.
Nice tension from Trey.

Memories, Poor Heart
and Sweet Adeline make for
a charming encore

Great old school Phish show.
Sure, there's no type-II jamming
but they fucking rip.

Llama - Opening things up with a bang.
Bouncing - Standard
Divided Sky - Real solid.  Any first-time attendees would certainly be hooked by now.
Fee - Standard
Ice - The slow, groovy version. Certainly well played.
MSO - Real dissonant piano solo.  I like Mike's walking bass when they come out of it.
Guelah - Standard
Lizards - Goodness from Gamehenge. Well played.
Foam - Played nice and tight.  Trey really needs to tune his guitar, though.  Ouch.
Bowie - Dr. Seuss!  Not sure what Mike is teasing in the intro there.  Nice dissonance/tension as the jam gets going.  At about 7:00, Trey teases whatever Mike was teasing in the hi-hat intro, I think.  Strong head of steam this one has.  Nice peak, too.

Golgi - Standard
Squirming Coil - Not the tightest, but still cool.
Brother - Always great to hear.  Interesting early version.
Sparkle - Pretty much standard
Landlady - Trey tears it up.  They really need to bring this one back.
Destiny - Awesome then...awesome now.  Trey's fills are a joy to listen to, although being in tune would be so much better.
Mike's - Rippin!
Hydrogen - Beautifully played
Weekapaug - Hot!  Trey shreds this one.
Lawn Boy - Trey sounds great here.  Real nice playing.  Not exactly subtle, but not in your face either.
Chalkdust - Decent.
Memories -
Poor Heart - Now Trey is painfully out of tune.  His solo is super tasty, though.
Adeline - sweet

First time hearing this one.  It can be tough to review the earlier shows as there's usually not too much in the way of extended jamming, but this was a joy to listen to.  Must've been great to catch them in such a small room and putting out a performance like this.

I

Llama - If your not dancing with headphones your doing it wrong, FIRE!

Bouncin' - Back when bouncin' was fun to hear.  Got a nice spring to it.

Divided Sky - Awesomely done the whole way through.  Solid peak as well.

Fee - Wrong verse Trey   No Megaphone but still a good version.

It's Ice - Back when Ice was a new song :hereitisyousentimentalbastard
Up when it needs to be and dark in the same respect, just the way I like my ice.  Well done.

My Sweet One - Herbivores did well...  Leo kills as always.

Guelah - Standard and awesome.

Lizards - Absolutely beautiful.

Foam - keeps getting thicker...

Bowie - DR. SEUSS!!  Some really awesome playing in this one as well.  I really love these early bowies.  MORE FIRE!!!!!!

II

Golgi - Standard but awesome.

Coil - I don't really remember a lot of versions of this song, but I have always liked this early one.

Brother - Early brothers FTW!!!  Hard hittin mike and screaming guitar from trey is the way to go.

Sparkle - Even sparkle has got the right speed.

The Landlady>Destiny - My favorite old school 1-2 punch.  And im with RJ, shelf punch for a bit and bring back landlady.  And old school destinies are no joke either.  Some of the most phishy lyrics, I love it!
Mikes - SHIT HITS HARD! Trey just keeps on screamin dirt in my ear, FUCKIN LOVE IT!! >

H02 - As serene as ever. >

Weekapaug - Out of all the times ive heard this song, this one always sticks out.  Prob my fav intro to this song ever with everyone contributing, instead of the normal fish and mike.   The rest of it keeps with the ripping theme of the night as well.

Lawn Boy - Old factory hues...

Chalkdust - to end the set   Just one fore burst of energy to end the set.

E

Memories - WOOOOHOOOO!!!!!   SHHHHHHH!!!!!!!    WOOOHOOOO!!!!  SHHHHHH!!!!!

Poor Heart - Hillbilly rock to dance to some more.

Sweet Adeline - WOOOHOOOO!!!!!!  SHHHHH!!!!!!!!

Ok, yeah its hard and some say worthless to review older shows.  Its hard if you don't like to hear phish as it was first intended to be played.  Straight forward rock shows.  And yeah its worthless if you are worthless.   Yeah there are no jams, that doesn't stop people from going to phish in 09' 10'   This was one of the first tapes my cousin gave me and ive keep it on a regular rotation for over ten years now.  I love it and I hope you all did too.
