I would add Harlem Nights to that list.

You never drink alone when you have something good to listen to.

Coming to America yea, Harlem Nights nay.

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.

Forgot about Coming to America and you're right, one of his best.  If ranking Eddie Murphy movies, Harlem Nights would be one spot in front of Vampire in Harlem.
"There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese."          -Bobby Finstock

Right up until Harlem Nights, You guys were on point.

Apocalypto.

I absolutely loved it.  A little disturbing at times but I thought it was fantastic.

Billy Bragg & Wilco - Man in the Sand (The Making of "Mermaid Avenue")

Cool but paid short-shrift to Wilco and completely disregards the fact that Woody Guthrie himself invited Bob Dylan to work with the un-recorded lyrics some thirty+ years earlier.

cactusfan

Cloverfield.

the friend i saw it with described it as '9/11 porn.'
hard to disagree.
lots of people running and screaming as new york is demolished.
the monster is kind of cool, yet not very memorable.
godzilla may have looked infinitely cheezier way back in the day, but at least he had personality.

other major problem as that all of the characters are white, 20-something yuppie pricks you hate.
well, that and story is really dumb.

hm. i guess this wasn't very good.

yesterday being lazy, caught these on the TV:
-benny & joon
-reefer madness
-dawn of the dead (2004)

all i've seen before... but enjoyed them all over again, for like the 40th time, each...

now i'm off to the theatre to see JUNO with ma'lady friends...
honest to the point of recklessness...                     ♫ ♪ ılıll|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|llılı ♪ ♫

juno was great. hit home just in the right spot.
that's a movie i'll def. be buying...

after that went back to my friend Rachel's place and finally saw 'love song for bobby long'
not as great as the hype, but it was a pretty good movie.

Just got back, and I kinda liked it... It was nothing like any other monster movies, and while the plot was nothing special, that sort of added to the experience.  Life isn't like a movie, and they tried to make a completely unrealistic event true to the way people act without hollywood dramatization, and I thought they did a good job at that.  I don't know if anyone knows this but after the loooonnnnng-ass credits there is a backwards audio clip that says something to the effect of: 'It's still alive'.  Sequel?  I don't know how I feel about that...but it does have a sick ass monster:

Just caught 'School of Rock' on tv....haven't seen this one for quite some time, but definitely a cute, feel good movie.

hoodie22

Ok  and i guess i should also admit that i went to see '27 Dresses' with a friend the other night....It was pretty cute and amusing, but as a chick i can be a softy for a sweet romantic comedy, but not totally lame....perhaps if the wife is interested, its really not all bad.
