What are your thoughts?
Here's my take....
I like it. It's like low-fi techno. It's also very pop.....well, as pop as someone like Gordon can be. You can hear 80's elements, as well as newer influences.....
Dare I say.....Let's Go might actually get radio airplay?
Mine should be here on Monday. I liked the ones he put up on YouTube.

Your review intrigues me, will have to spin this on the way home today.
I'll agree – this album is pretty good, with a fairly contemporary feel throughout. I was pleasantly surprised.
"Let's Go" certainly has a lot to recommend it to the mainstream, but frankly Gordo's vocals aren't strong enough for pop radio.
It's uh, certainly something different from Mike and I like it a lot better than Overstep which I thought was pretty annoying/grating.
I guess it's a solid effort but like most Mike solo stuff, or Phish studio stuff for that matter, I doubt I'll be listening to it much after it's a couple months old.
I skipped Overstep after really not caring for Moss.
Also, this is the superior version of Crazy Sometimes.
Moss has some good cuts on it, Horizon Line, Spiral, Babylon Baby, Idea, in fact it might be my favorite album of his.
Overstep on the other hand sounds like Weird Al trying to make "serious" music.

Clone should be in regular rotation.
Just put the new mike album on. About 3 tracks in, I started wondering why I wasn't listening to phish. Now happily lapping up jam night.
Is Overtstep the last one? The red and blue one? You guys are craze. That's a great album. Ton of good cuts on there. Is this new one a double LP too? Haven't got around to playing it (since none of my local stores have the album).
It's no Green Sparrow.

Yeah the red and blue one. I guess I could give it another shot but I pretty much hated it.

I really like it. I think there are some songs that could have been left out and it could have been a much stronger single album, but I play it pretty often and like it.
Just streamed OGOGO off of LP and have to say I really like it too. It's a departure, which I like. Going to wait to heat the vinyl for full review of the production, but on the stream, the bass is banging. Have a bunch of friends at the shows this weekend and a couple that are doing the whole tour. Not sure I like it that much, but I sure wish he was coming to Ptown.

That last show we saw at the Crystal was awesome. Would even consider traveling to Seattle or Eugene to see MGB.
I really dig the low-fi grit the album has going for it.....the multi-tracking this album has is absolutely insane.....there is a TON of sonic depth to all the instruments. Hard to tell if its a drum machine, or real drums at times....which I dig....
Of course, Victim....Crazy Sometimes....and Let's Go are the best 3 tracks on the album with Whirlwind making honorable mention.....IMHO.
going to cop this vinyl tonight at the local record store so I get pre wristband'd for the in store performance on 10/14 here
Spun it a couple more times and I'm digging it, it's kind of pop but still has plenty of trademark Mike weirdness.
Seems like he's put out the best Phish related album in a while, maybe it will spurn Trey to write some better tunes. :samurai:
Couldn't find it anywhere locally which is weird so I got it $19ppd from Soundstage with their 20% code....
I've been pretty impressed with this album so far - immediately had it on repeat after the first listen because it just kind of came out of nowhere for me. When I heard "pop, disco Mike", I wasn't really feeling it, but it's definitely something new and pretty interesting. I am kind of regretting not going to see MGB this time around...
I think the Green Sparrow was the last one of his I remember listening to, and I can't recall listening to it more than once. I guess I'm just not too into Mike's solo stuff. Normally.
Having said that, I'm really digging this one. It's more my style, I suppose. I'll have to check out a few of the shows and see what the material is like live.

Yes.
I also like Inside In a lot. Mike's other solo albums haven't really done it for me. But lately I seem to like the songs he brings to Phish better than most of Trey's new stuff. Haven't tried OGOGO yet, but I will.
I really like it. Solid grooves. My first listen sounded like a Prince tribute. The sleeper track for me is So Far Gone. Really good stuff.

I like it a lot. And so does our big bad-ass cat Lemmy.
I am sucker for Mike's solo stuff. Also: no sign of Trey ballads. That's is a big plus IMO.
Finally getting a chance to listen to this and I am kinda amazed at how good it is. Wish I didn't blow off his show last weekend.

I wish you didn't either. I am dying for MGB to come back here.
I like the album and love that MGB seems to be constantly evolving.
It'd be interesting to see these tunes in a live setting.
Anyone else get the stab at Mike's issues about a hobo takin photos? Oooooo

I thought he was saying "Some Quasimodo takin' photo's".
Do you think he is referring to the Jones Beach Dead show incident?
Caught Gordo in Boulder last Friday and he exceeded my expectations. I hadn't heard the new album yet and was pleasantly surprised with the new tunes. Very poppy/catchy, which I didn't expect, but I dug 'em.
Those dudes jam too. Fun show!

Those dudes jam too.
this is true. I find the shows a mixed bag sometimes, but there will always be some left-field jamming in there. The band seems pretty fearless in that sense. Mike's singing just gets tedious after two full sets.
