Cubs get Lilly!

Mattstick, maybe you can comment on this dude...  15-13 with a 4.31.  He was touted as a great find, but how did the Blue Jays do last year, and what did he look like?  Was he good in your opinion?

There are 10 types of people in this world.  Those who understand binary, and those who don't.

August

here is some Mets news...

alot of little trades have been made, and we have our field and hitting taken care of for the most part.all we need now, is to get a good starter or two and we have something nice.

we signed Glavine which is a plus.he'll get his 300th win this year and finish out as a Met.Tommy is a consistent player and also throws down a solid bunt.

we signed Moises Alou, who despite his age, is a great right-handed hitter, and all-around RBI machine.he'll be platooning in left with my maim man, Endy Chavez.

and we re-signed Jose Valentin, IMO the most improved player of last year.

Glavine+Alou+Valentin=125 years old!

as we wait to hear back from Barry Zito, we are persuing Cards' starter, Mulder.

now some negatives.....

one of our best relievers, submariner Chad Bradford was picked up by The O's.
also, Brian Bannister, an injury-prone starter was just traded for a reliever. this trade may or may not werk for us.

our pitching isnt where it should be.
it is gonna be nice to see what we have to werk with, and go from there.

Jeff...Cubs look promising this year.i think Lou has something in mind, as to what this team should be, and has the knowledge to actually put that into effect and make them solid this year.

and RJ...your new Nats manager is great.Manny Acta, our old 3rd base coach, is generally real easy to get along with, and has alot planned for your team this year.

He was decent - you never know which Ted Lilly will show up on any given start.  He could shut down the Red Sox one start, then blow a 7 run lead against the Devil Rays the next.

He might fare better outside the AL East, but I still would'nt say he's much better than most 3rd starters.

The Jays are'nt having much luck landing a quality starter or two - we may have to settle for Redman and Suppan...

jephrey

The Mets will like Alou...  I was sad to see him leave the cubs even though he pisses on his hands.  Watch out for Steve Bartman types in left field when Alou is playing.

Thanks Matt.  He'll be a good third.  We got offense to make up for some inconsistent pitching.  All Cubs starters will be incosistent (except Zambrano) I think

The Cubs picked a bad year to go free-agent crazy, imo.  On top of that, I also don't have much faith in Lou Pinella - I forsee a long summer at Wrigley.  When was the last time a mediocre team signed a wack of free agents and then was an immediate contender?  It just does'nt happen that way in baseball.

Wait, Moises Alou is an RBI machine?

With Meche & Lilly both off the market I can't wait to see what JP Riccardi does to fill in the Blue Jays rotation.

yes.

considering his age, and how much playing time he has had in the past few years, i would still
put him in the machine catagory.
plus, we need a right handed batter, so putting him in 6th behind Reyes,LoDuca,Beltran,Delgado and Wright is only gonna help his cause.
be thankful we dont play you.

I thought everyone played everyone now?

August

nope.
there is inter-league play, but you dont play every team from the other league.

faux, where you been?  lurkin?

I have to differ on the cubs.  They went free-agent crazy, but all for multi-year deals, so even if this turns out mediocre, I'm sure I'll be saying wait till next year

Naw...I moved...and didn't have teh internetz at the new apartment until recently (thanks to the wireless router I bought our neighbor ;)  And there was a mishap at work involving lawyers and a dude that looked at porn in his cube and a girl that felt harrassed by his porn...sooooo they made all non-work websurfing super illegal...

Not to mention the fact that I have been busy as hell, have managed to acquire some semblance of a life and haven't really had the time for teh internetz.

In other news...I saw phix on 10/30 and 10/31 AND THEY ROCKED!!!!! I was super duper skeptical going in...but when they dropped the funkiest fucking tube I'd heard anyone do and then broke out a Harry Hood that rivalled teh pish, I was hooked.

Phix is a GREAT time.

I'll go back to being a negative nelly soon enough...don't worry ;)

And august, thanks, that was the answer I was looking for....

tet

and Pettitte to the Yanks... which doesn't thrill me, but that means The Rocket will be there in June/July!    :beers:
