It's just that every year I think "wow, the NL looks tough this year" - then the AL goes out and beats 'em.

Also consider that LaRussa has little hope of getting to the WS with the Cards, but Leyland has a legit shot at getting back there.

Yeah, I thought that was kinda wack. I mean, I thought it was great that he made the play, but I felt they left some of those guys in for way too long. Doesn't everyone deserve to play? I mean, I remember the announcer saying that the NL had only one player left on their bench, Albert Pujols. But seriously, shouldn't everyone get to play an inning or two?
