"Locked" files that I can't delete

I've got some media files on my Desktop which I can't drag into the trash...  How do I unlock or delete them?

if the files are indeed locked, you can hit Command-I on them and in the Info Box should be a checkmark next to "Locked".  if that doesn't work, hold in the Option key as you go to Empty Trash, that will force it to empty. if that  doesn't work, restart the computer, the file may be locked because it is in use, or the computer thinks it is...

Thanks - I just had to uncheck the "Locked" box.
