He's really on, that set closer was strong.  Heard an interview where he said he rented a windowless room a few blocks from his house in the city.  He's been sitting in there working on his rig and just practicing Dead tunes non-stop.

I could use some more Jeff and Bruce in the webcast mix, for sure. It also sounded to me as though there's *some* live mixing happening, but it's not enough to let me hear Bruce's solo in franklin's, eg.

Still, that was hands down the most fun I've ever had while fully clothed on a couch. And I've probably never been more psyched to see Phish than I am now.

This is what practiced Trey sounds like.  And I agree, it is amazing.  I'm trying really hard to just focus on the incredible music being played right now, and not to let my thoughts wander to the "imagine if Trey practiced for months leading up to each Phish tour".

Awesome show, Cassidy was a personal highlight but actually really dug Drums > Space tonight especially the end of Space into Unbroken Chain and of course the power versions of Terrapin, NFA and Touch of Grey.

Definitely a lot more energy tonight, but I think Friday night will stand tall as the best of the shows with perhaps night one of SC in the second slot because of the killer second set.

Very thankful to be part of the global GD/Phish community tonight, Trey made us proud and was clearly the best choice for these shows.

Pumped for Bend in two weeks!!!!    :beers:

Dead 50 Setlist, Saturday 7.4.15 - Fare Thee Well - Soldier Field, Chicago, IL

Set 1: Shakedown Street, Liberty, Standing on the Moon, Me and My Uncle, Tennessee Jed, Cumberland Blues, Lil Red Rooster, Friend of the Devil, Deal

Set 2: Birdsong, Golden Road (To Unlimited Devotion), Lost Sailor > Saint of Circumstance > West LA Fadeaway, Foolish Heart > Drums/Space>Stella blue, one more Saturday night

Encore:  US Blues

------------------------------
Okay, so the weekend was a whirlwind of awesome for me.  We got into Chicago around 2pm on Friday.  We grabbed a flight of beers at Lagunitas' tap room, and scoped out the brewery, and then hit Lou Malnati's Pizzeria for dinner.  We walked the city a bit, and wondered.  I ended up heading down to Solider Field around 10:00, and I got to hear most of the second set from the outside.  It was a shit show out there.  About 1500 ticketless wooks/people/delegates partying and listening to the music.

I tried to get up with dirty but it didn't happen, and ended up meeting up with another friend.  It took us about two hours to get the 3 miles back to his hotel.  Foot traffic out of the southern entrance was a nightmare, and the walk was so congested you had to walk very slowly.  I enjoyed watching the nitrous mafia work the crowd about a mile into the walk.  They were charging $20 per balloon.  Pretty lulzy to me.

By the time we got back to my friend's place, I decided to call it a night.  I caught an uber back to my hotel.  And passed out.  My fiance and I got up around 7am, and we hit the bakery right by our hotel for breakfast.  She wanted to be lazy, so I walked Chicago some more and got to scope out the awesome architecture of the city.

I caught an uber to MBW's pad around 1pm and was the first delegate to arrive.  Let's just pause and thank he and his wonderful wife for the accommodations and hosting us.   Thank you to both of you.  Much appreciated, and very kind of you.  His pad is super cereal with the rooftop view.  More delegates arrived.  We took some photos where dirty looked a model for why contraception matters with strangers.

Excellent to see everyone.  MBW, Pie + his friend, myself, and my fiance caught an uber to the show.  We chilled out by the southern entrance for a bit before we all went inside.  PG kept feeding my lady warm tequila, which was hilarious for me to watch.  I declined, as I had some paper I dropped around 5ish.  At the entrance, some security lady sold my fiance and I floor wristbands for $30 each.  We happily obliged.  I'm going to be honest, that was an incredible turn of events.  We did eventually see the back of the stage (we met up with dirty, Ferbz and Ferbz's lady at set break) in section 252.

The floor wasn't too crowded.  Space and sight lines were good.

Musically, I thought it was weaker than the SC shows.  I really enjoyed it.  I think Trey has regained a lot of his chops, and a lot of his ability to play more complicated lines and move outside the pentatonic scale.  Shakedown opener was nice.  Some good moments in there.  The Standing on the Moon was another highlight to me.  I thought it was really well played.  FOTD and Deal to close the set was awesome.  Deal had the place exploding with energy.

Jam out of Birdsong was really nice.  I ran into MBW during the Birdsong jam.  We tried to find PG.  We worked our way pretty far up in the field.  I ended up going to take a piss during Golden Road.  And remained in the back of the field for a little bit.  During Foolish Heart I decided to do a lap around the outer ring of the stadium.  Lots of people twirling in the non view areas.  Drums and space kinda lost me (in terms of interest)

I decided to stay closer to the side view for the rest of the set.  I had some aversions about getting out there, as I knew I had an early flight on Sunday.  So I chilled by the side exit (where you could see the museum across the street).  I walked out as US blues started and I could hear it clearly as I made my way back into Chicago to catch an uber.

The only place I could find open for a night cap by my hotel was a PF Chang's.  Drinking scotch at PF Chang's is about as thrilling as it sounds.  I had a couple glasses, and popped my landing gear.  Made my walk back, and after watching vortex swirls for about 30 minutes with my eyes closed, the landing gear took effect and I fell asleep.

Flight back was smooth.  We got some brunch close to our house, and laid around in a coma for the rest of the day.

I feel really lucky to have gotten into one night of three.  This was special to me even though I didn't walk away with my jaw on the floor.  I know I will never see anything like that again.  And to watch Trey make leaps and bounds after all this time really warmed my heart, and got me excited for the first time in a long time about Phish.  I'm really excited about this summer tour, and I really hope this experience for him translates to something special this summer.

It was also really nice to see and meet so many of y'all too.

it's an alternative to cab.  Essentially, it is a non union cab where the pricing is much cheaper than a cab.  If you have a smart phone, you can download an app and you hit a button and the app connects the drivers to the consumers, and you can pay with any card via the app

I had a decent size crew at my house for the webcasts so I wasn't really able to participate in the LSTs but I felt overwhelmed by how well the shows seemed to come together. It just made my heart ache that I hadn't done everything in my power to be there. I guess it just wasn't in the cards for me at this point in life. The Paug crew looked happy and healthy  and it would have been the icing on the cake to have hung out with that group of delegates. So glad everyone had a blast and I was definitely there in spirit. Trey totally put the naysayers to rest imo, I can see myself listening to these shows for years to come.

I know it's not from Chicago, it's from Cali, but Cream Puff War was awesome. I've been waiting for Phish to play it ever since.

Just added the Santa Clara shows to my playlist for today.

Also, I love how the box set includes the Circles Around the Sun preshow/setbreak music...

Those 'sets' have not left my phone since I got them. I listen to them more than the FTW sets by a big margin,

Totally agree. I think I have CATS in vinyl, CD and MP3. Listen to it all the time.

In other news, boy Bobby and Phil destroyed Terrapin Station with their vocals. Of course, that can be argued with a lot of the songs on this run.

I only really listen back to the stuff that Trey sang, and Franklin's Tower.

Built To Last is kinda clunky but was the biggest surprise of the weekend, not many (any?) people around us knew it...

There's even more CATS stuff from the streams of Santa Clara that are on Soundcloud.

Pretty sure I read the FTW box set released all of their recorded material, but I'll certainly check it out. Thx MC
