If I recall, the term "3G" was a real buzzword around the time of the 2nd generation iPhone, and Apple wanted to cash in on that.  Hence the somewhat straightforward but otherwise confusing naming scheme.

For those of you that are tired of the web based google play 'app', try melodies. Just search google play in the app store. There's both a paid and free version. IMO, the free version is already light years ahead. Love it so far

I use gMusic on my ipad. Works great. the Web based app sucks donkey balls.

The simple fact that melodies can run in the background is a huge upgrade over the other IMO.
