I like the look of the Tour now.
Sucks for those from the Midwest that booked trips to NYC thinking that those were the only dates.

Warmup shows > some more rusty shows > MSG.

10 clunky msg shows, and 3 that result in 'phish is fucking back' thread bumps, two of which are recanted in the sober light of day, and one that's argued over until it's decided that dick's are the best shows ever played in 3.0.

Almost all the rumors had Bill Graham in the mix, and Alpine was strongly rumored before the announcement that they would be closed for the year.

And yeah completely missing Nutter and Pittsburgh when we are talking about eight shows at four venues is significant.

starting to get pumped for this!

with them warming up in milwaukee's bradley center, why not do a show there on thursday?

also, with the high likelihood of crap weather in chicago, why not make these indoor shows too?

do you think any or all of the bakers dozen shows will be available via couch tour?

discuss!

CK5 was figuring out how to integrate the screens better into the overall rig, but having said that, I'm glad to see them go and hope it is permanent, they never really felt "Phishy" to me.
Yeah. They felt way too gimmicky for my taste. Did they do away with the cloth (or whatever material) projection circles? I didn't see them in the tweets with pictures, I've always liked those

The new rig has the ability to move down right over the band in 4 arches.  Not sure what the effect is other than it makes the stage look more intimate.

I know it's a stretch, but with all the chatter going on, I don't think there will be any repeats through the BD. I think it's totally doable, especially with them busting out new tunes and covering a few TAB tunes here and there. Instead of 2 or 3 555s over that stretch, slide in a Weigh or a Meat - songs that are rarely played anymore. There are plenty of covers out there as well (duh). With that said, I don't see that streak (if it should even happen) continuing at Dick's.

Just my $.02

You guys are stoked!!  :beers:

I still think the no repeats thing has some legs. Number one, they are digging deep into the catalog and side project catalog. Two, they have been playing at least one long jam a night, limiting song count.  Three, Page said if they ever play a residency, they would make some of the nights theme nights or something to that effect.  So while it seems ludicrous to assume that they won't play a Ghost or Disease or any of the new songs already played at MSG, I can't remember the last time they played 5 shows without a repeat. Also, pretty sure no Gamehenge songs yet.   The fact that they are webcasting every show seems to me like they are either going to be building toward something or have something special every night.  Who knows, it could be standard tour fare, but I feel like the opportunity for them to so something unique like no repeats is too glaring for them not to take advantage of it in some way.  I would be so stoked if they did a Motown set, or a disco set or a whole show Tweezer or something. Or a whole show or set like the Storage Jam or Tower Jam. They can do whatever.  Dog Log show?  I mean they already played an hour Runaway Jim so....All bets are off when you play the same room 13 times in row. Pretty sure this is going to be off the chains. And they always play better when it's undersold, which these are.  One thing for sure  is that if they continue no repeats, big dogs like Reba, Tweezer, Mikes and YEM are going to carry a ton of extra weight of it turns out they are tour one-offs. /end rant.

I said this to a buddy the other day. The anticipation building up to those opening notes of Tweezer or Mike's in the 9th or 10th or 13th show is gonna be so YUGE I'm thinking the roof might literally blow the fuck off.

One thing to add:   I don't think they can play 13 shows at MSG without playing Simple. "We've got Skyscapers" always gets such a huge crowd response in that room.

Agreed. My baseline is full reset of the catalog and then no repeats at MSG.

My second guess is they open tonight with Jennifer Dances, Jennifer Dances, Ha Ha Ha.

If only to spare us all some self-inflicted disappointment, I'll also go on record as predicting all of the previous five shows' songs are squarely on the table for MSG.

Agreed. My baseline is full reset of the catalog and then no repeats at MSG.

My second guess is they open tonight with Jennifer Dances, Jennifer Dances, Ha Ha Ha.

That't would be the true Phishy thing to do.

And then have a tweeprise in every set going forward.

Which is an idea I think is fine

That's sick...

But I like the idea of a good  Buried Alive -> Manteca.

The no repeats thing for me is cool, but it won't diminish what is happening for me with this band right now if it ends.

Dude... drop everything you're doing and give the 7/25 Lawn Boy a spin. Bet you never thought you'd have someone tell you to drop everything and listen to a Lawn Boy, did you?

Just got done watching this.

Trey just can't help himself with that high-on-the-neck, mini-chord, note-blasting he always does nowadays (I'm not a guitarist -- someone please help with a concise description of this trick. You know what I'm talking about. It's everywhere), but I like some of the places that jam ended up.

He's got a whole series of those tricks.

I think I prefer his current one to that lick he played in every jam every show from '09-13 or so. Or to the whale call. Remember the whale? It almost feels like a thing of the past, dare I say....

Also... I can't believe I'm going to see 11 shows this summer and not catch a Chalkdust or Hood.

It's almost like my personal stat... 3 No Quarters and only 1 YEM in like 30 or so shows... How?

My buddy, Luke, who runs lights for Dopapod is crashing with me for a few day and He has a Lighting Design oriented podcast and got the confirmation earlier today that he will be interviewing kuroda during soundcheck on Tuesday!

I'm trying to hold a mic or camera or something to get in on this!

That's freaking awesome. I listened to his episode with the Panic guy. Can't wait to hear what Kuroda has to say.
