Ok, so it's been a while since I initiated a seed (I've only been co-seeding for a few months now) but I started a seed this weekend.  I use utorrent and my ISP is RCN.  My speeds were what they were supposed to be, but I had a lot of "fake" IPs connecting to my torrent.  In utorrent, it actually said FAKE next to it.  I believe the port was 56072 (or something similar to that).  On etree, it showed there were 17 peers and in utorrent, it showed that there were 150+ peers.  I was connected to 20 and more than half were fake.  These fake IPs were actually downloading data from me.  It was definitely in the hundreds of MB.

I haven't noticed this when I co-seed shows and I never see this when I download and then upload a show.  I figure it has to do with my IP address starting a torrent.

I downloaded the ipfilter.dat file for utorrent.  I think it helped minimally but did not solve the problem by any means.

Has this happened to anyone?  It was a perfectly legitimate torrent so I am not worried, it was just annoying.

I've never noticed this before, but I've heard of such a thing.  It seems we had a thread about this once, but I can't remember enough of it to look it up.

thanks for the link.  this seems to eb the opposite problem.
the peers on etree were fine.  it was what was showing on my own personal utorrent.  all my other torrents (the ones I did not initiate) were fine though.
and I do have peer guardian running.

like I said, it was a legal torrent so it is no big deal, but just thought I'd throw it out here in case it starts happening to others.

I'll just keep searching forums if it becomes a consistent problem.
maybe I'll seed another show tonight and see if it happens.

thanks for the help guys.

In utorrent... Try turning of DHT.
