Blossom was fantastic in a LOT of ways. By the end of the night I was convinced that the venue was actually a spaceship, and CK was lighting it. Okay maybe not really, but it was pretty rad.

I almost got through them all last night before I started to crash out. To be honest I am not really happy with the way they came out. I was doing something wrong that night. Might have been all the haze in the air fogging my lens but I dont know. I just don't like the way a lot of them came out. I'll still put them up, but they aren't half as good as last years
I just pulled the trigger on a new lens. Nothing too special. Just a 50mm so there won't really be any zoom, but the aperture is a step up so it will do much much better with the lighting at the shows. Nice and crisp shots

A lot of them are coming out like this and Im not too happy with them. I had a lot of trouble that night keeping the lens from getting foggy

After a quick check of the LST, at exactly 10:25 they were going from 2001 > YEM, so it'd be one of those songs.

My Canon had been giving me constant lens error warnings and crappy photos left and right, so I wasn't even trying for shots. I think it might be about done and I don't think even a professional cleaning would fix it. On the plus side, I didn't let my camera distract me from the show at all.
This first one is of the people in the merch line not getting down at all to the killer Halfway to the Moon soundcheck. Nobody was paying attention. I checked. Meanwhile, I was doing long slow loops on my bike, totally digging it.

DMB (et al) shows at Camden have moved below the frat boy scene...now it's all high school jocks and annoying girls who could still be eligible for the kids menu. It's the downfall of that scene. Keystone, balloons, and E don't mix well in a human body that is still in the throws of puberty. I really have a hard time enjoying those shows anymore...

it was funny, i got my tickets for blossom from my physics teacher (hes mad chill, and a phan) hes like if i see you im turning around and walking the other way.... we found him first... beer in hand (we were already feeling the acid kick in and i think our eyes were pretty dilated) he just looks right at my eyes he goes. "koznarek.... your an idiot" makes sure we didnt have beer then walked away and said have fun haha.
but then again im a freshman in college now (just graduated this year) so i wasnt "his student" anymore so its not as awkward as seeing that kid sitting in your classroom next year haha
what age/grade do you teach?

This is the conversation my pics have inspired? OK, well then let me take this opportunity to unburden myself. When I was in school, I lived in the dorms the first two years and in the second year, most of one of my school's only two non-academic frats moved onto my floor. They did most of their shit off campus, and still a majority of them were kicked out of the dorm by the end of the year (dry campus, lol). But those guys were mostly ok and didn't do anything too, you know... except this one thing... the older kids had a thing they would make the new kids do and they called it a "butt beer". There are probably variations on this process, but the way these guys did it, one guy drops his pants, one guy holds the Stroh's party ball, and one guy fills one up by first running the beer down the dropped pants guy's ass crack and catching it in a cup underneath. Then the new kid drinks it. Yup. Sorry if I just gave away one of your secrets, dudes.
[edit to add: Since I am sure you're wondering, I ran into this scene in the bathroom shower area, which, because the dorm rooms were carpeted, was where they had to do it.]

I woke up to this cardinal selfing herself at about 7:45am two mornings in a row at the Bong Rec. Saturday, I was going to get up early anyway and get in a ride before the weather got ridiculous. Made some coffee, had some quaker honey graham oh's, took a pre ride shower (it was already getting gross hot), grabbed my bike, sat on the seat and heard the sssssssss....

Lame. So I start trying to pull the tire but it's a PITA bc I can't find my preferred bike tool set. I go to call Maggie to see where she hid it... meanwhile, she has blown up my voicemail because first her brakes went out on her car, so then she took my Scirocco for the weekend and broke it it broke down on her somewhere out of town. It's still there, too. [Hey Jezmund - I remembered on my way home Tuesday that you're the dood who rolls the VR6 (Corrado, was it?) - if I had remembered before that, I'm sure I would have told you all about it, plus how shitty my vanagon runs on midwest ethanol gas] Never ended up finding the bike tools, but after an hour of frustration and sweating out my face I was able to patch the tube anyway and I did about 20 miles on mellow Wisconsin farm roads in the thick ass humid 90 some degree weather.

Was still kind of delirious but feeling good when I rolled up to Alpine. Went to go check out the poster and ended up selling my extra lawns for $45 a piece. Score. Clouds moved in which was also nice. Spent the rest of the afternoon moving slow and drinking water anyway.

I spent the rest of the first set in the aisle front of one of those pole triangles. My ticket was for right by there so me and the security person had an understanding - everybody else gets kicked out of the aisle except me. Took over an aisle seat during intermission and was set for the night.

We survey the area, and as stealth as can be, pick a site, and go for it!
Well, I guess we must have not been quite as stealth as we thought, because I get no farther than 20 ft. when a huge jock looking bro comes running after me and tackles me to the ground, knocking the wood everywhere. I swear he must have been a linebacker in high school football or something.
Then, my inner-genius kicks in.
I immediately pretend to be all "woah..... man..... I'm fucked up...... whaaaatt's ggooooiinngg ooonn?!?!" and then somehow convince this Jock kid that the wood was really mine in the first place, and that
he was wrong in accusing me. MBW then steps in, gets all macho-tough-guy, and says something to the affect of.... "YO! That's our wood brah, you must be confused"
Then, to our surprise, this kid thinks about it -- then APOLOGIZES to us and says he had just woken up and was quite bewildered. So, like the nice guy I am -- I offer him the wood as a parting gift.
He thanks me, apologizes once more to both of us, and we're on our way.

the camera made it. i lost one lens cap and my zoom lens is busted. just found that out last night

I'd like to add that I was under the influence of Boomers, Booze and an Adderall on the second night, so I took a bunch of pictures, with not a lot of them turning out so good. Here's a couple of shots I tried to take of the stage (I appear to have not stopped dancing when taking the pictures) and an odd picture of something that I forgot happened. The last picture is of me and this chick, Michelle, that I dated before my wife. I ran into her on my way out of the show that night. I completely forgot that I saw her that night until I saw this picture.

I bought a cheap digital camera, back before every phone was a camera, to take into the show. I wasn't sure if cameras were allowed and didn't want to take my wife's good camera. I wouldn't have cared if they made me leave it at the gate when was going in. This and the Mike Gordon Band show Keller and I went to in Bloomington were the only two times I ever used it. None of the MGB pictures are any good at all that place was so small and dark.
Anyway, I found the camera in a box today while organizing the storage room of our basement. It had an SD card in it so I plugged it into my laptop and started looking at what I did that night. I forgot how spun I was for that show. Great times indeed.
Great memories were made. I was walking alone through the lawn pre-show and heard my name being yelled by Chris, Heath, and Tom. I went to the show semi-alone, and was just looking for a good place to chill on the lawn, so I stayed with them and we watched set I together and had a great time. Gangsta Mario!!! I know Heath has/had a video of this dude dancing by the Pav rail that was hilarious!
The set break meetup was EPIC! There were 14
-16 of us!! I need to look at that picture and count again. There were 14.
/TLDR I found an old camera and figured that people would enjoy seeing themselves 8 years ago at a Phish show. :mrgreen:

Nowadays I stick to simply Phish shirts that don't literally tell people I'm high. They just infer it.
