Well there you have it. Back in the Big Apple.
Ticket request in for four on the floor. Looking forward to getting denied yet again.
"long-awaited" return
Ticket request in. Let's hope early request increases chances. A guy can hope right?

Gonna be hard to pass this up after the great times we had summer. I'm sure they were able to knock out some killer plans and details for NYE during their 3 weeks in the city!
wow, i never thought they would be back.
I'm looking forward to 12/29 Krispy Kreme
When do they generally put holds on your CC? Cause I get paid the Friday before the "status emails" go out on the 4th I just need to make sure I have enough.
place to stay secured.
looking into flights next.
oh yeah!
Flights booked. Let's do this!
Will be there. The lady and I going all in for a pair of floors for 30/31.
Let's see if they can keep the zero repeats at MSG this year.
Put in for one night only.
Not the best of plans but better than nothing.

Yup, same.
At least I can help people out if (when) I can't make it.
Gotta be a donut gag, right?
Put in for 400 sections for every night!
I plan to be at the :sbw: compound, wherever that may be, on 12/30. My interests in remaining married will likely preclude any thought beyond that, though I will make a solid attempt for 12/29 as well.
However it plays out, any time spent with paugers is a blessing. Also, :phish:
So it is 17 in '17 at MSG. That's pretty damn cool.
I'm having a mini-freak out over here at the possibility of not being with Phish on NYE for the first time in 8 years....
Between my recent move and living recklessly in NYC for 2.5 weeks this summer.... I'm just not sure I can cut it. Also, apparently when you live w/ your girlfriend and she can't afford to do something that you want to do... you kinda sorta have to pay for both if you want to do it? Is that how it works? I'm new to this...

Yeah, I got to see a lot more great shows before the old ball and chain.
Just about every show has cost me two flights and two tickets since 2000. Hotels are always the same but two flights all the time and double tickets is a killer. I'd way rather have that though than a wife that doesn't like Phish or understand it . That would not work for me one bit, so I just shut up and pay.
Phish with your boo is where it's at.

Well your wife was pretty much out of commission for two separate two year periods because of babies, but yeah I think it's safe to say that your household has spent more on Phish than most, especially since we constantly get shafted on the West Coast.

That's true. Except for Hampton '09 when I bought her a non-refundable $700 flight and the day before we left my kid projectile vomited all over the baked goods at New Seasons because of an ear infection and we had to eat the flight.

Meh - I'm pretty happy with my situation on that front. My first wife liked Phish (it's how we met) then thought I should "grow out of it" and wouldn't let me go to shows. Fuck that bitch. Much happier with a wife who lets me go do my phish thing without her. It works for us!

Denied. But MSG is never hard. Last year NYE run you couldn't give tickets away (well I did give one to Aug). The non NYE nights especially. I think I walked into each show with 2-3 tickets in my pocket which is nice if you want to move around easily. It's nice to spend a set in the club level or seats and then hit the floor for second set.
Nice, yeah def didnt seem like there was a crazy demand last NYE.
There also wasnt a crazy demand for Bakers D either until they started slaying it every night then tickets were like 300-500 bucks for the last weekend. I doubt they will be like that for NYE since they dont have as many shows before so people need to plan this trip out and cant just drop everything and book a weekend flight after night 1/2
don't you think the BD hype and the lack of fall tour will bring a lot of people looking to do the new years run??

possibly, but a lot of people are probably also either sick of MSG after 13 shows and not traveling back, or still in major debt after spending two weeks in NYC this summer, or both. All the locals will go, but I am sure there are a lot of people who would have way rather gone to Miami or LA for NYE.
Plus, with so many summer shows coming up I think people are going to want to save money. If nothing was going on next year, more people would probably want to go. All that said, Friday is going to be a shitshow.
Congrats Birdman! See you on the floor!

Man, I really dislike the floor at MSG......way too much light pollution. Hate looking at people bathed in light with their faces melting.
My seat is up in the 200s of course but I'm in and solo so shouldn't be a problem... especially as I'm not going to NYE.
On a side note, besides being envious of not being there, I want Fishman to reinvent Eloise on Night 1.

I think I walked into each show with 2-3 tickets in my pocket which is nice if you want to move around easily. It's nice to spend a set in the club level or seats and then hit the floor for second set.
now that's a high roller move! :beerbang:

Same boat as Scott.
Got a single for NYE but still unsure if I can really make it.

Ended up with 3 Thursday, 2 Fridays, all singles. Not sure about my schedule either, but good to get through the shitshow with a couple in hand at least.
I got 200s for the 28 and 29 and 100s for the 30th. Blanked on NYE. I did pull a 4 day pass in the 300s but threw it back.
I got 12/28 sec 3 (which is on the floor I guess) and 12/29 Floors for friend and I. Still looking for 12/30 x 2 and 12/31 x 1. Pretty happy all in all with my haul. I have never been on the floor at MSG, so should be fun. :beerbang:

Nice!
didn't end up doing mail order as I had already decided not to go. popped on to ticketmaster this morning with the idea that if I pulled very nice 100 levels near the stage, I'd change my mind.
i was shocked to pull two 4-day passes in decent 200 levels. it had me thinking for a moment, but the $750 price tag that came with it made them pretty easy to throw back. that was the only 4-day pass i was able to pull. i have a free place to stay and flights weren't too bad, but it's that ticket price that is getting me. the older I get, the more I think about concerts as a consumer. i didn't exactly find the msg security to be all that kind this summer. that place used to rage. it was anything goes. (it still does on the floor, i guess.) but if i'm dropping that kind of coin, i want to be treated a little better and i want good seats. with couch tour, it's no longer a "just get in the building" mentality for me.
i get the whole $100 is nothing to see a band like that in nyc on nye, but i go to all 4 shows of a new years run and that shit adds up. when i think back to the baker's dozen, there wasn't much difference between my "music experience" for the first 8 from which i watched from home and the last 5 from which i was there. they were all awesome!
i'm lucky enough to have a great couch tour set up, and i'm going to use it! i will rage all 4 shows from home with the best seats in the house, and i can't wait! :beers:

Yeah, security was supposedly really bad at BD. I had 3 friends thrown out of the venue for not having tickets for the seats they were in. That's insanity.

Oh it sucked this summer. I was personally escorted from the 300 bar seats (where there were multiple open seats and where I was bothering no one) to my particular seat in the 400s. Lady was a huge bitch and threatened to toss me if she saw me in her section again.
Psyched!
Last night was fun! If anyone as an extra for tonight hit me up. One show this run is not apparently not enough for me.
Any paugers get this email?
Woah.
The aliens have finally returned to retrieve the chosen ones. <kellerb puts on his tracksuit and nikes>
Space theme?! Oh man I'm excited!
It's gotta be Mercury for the 'gag'....

12/30 for me...by a mile.
12/30 was easily the best, it's the one people will still talk about a couple years from now.

That does seem to be the most popular opinion.
It surely has the tastiest setlist on paper but I think a Mike's Groove, Tweezer, Gin & DWD all in one set makes it
look better than it was though.
I had the most fun on NYE followed by 12/29. Thought it was an above average NYE run for 3.0 playing wise, but didn't reach quite the heights of Baker's Dozen.
I also love Soul Planet, so what do I know.
12/30 gets my vote, but 12/29 2nd set was my favorite overall.

I'm sure you had more fun at 12/29, but in terms of playing 12/30 completely blows it away. The Tweezer isn't just great on paper, it's a fantastic multi-segment jam. Plus the slow Brother was awesome and the Gin was above average and that's just the first set! I actually need to revisit the DWD as I don't remember it that well, but I loved the spacey Steam segment, shit went deep! Then the Farmhouse really was exceptional, and I usually hate that song, especially in the middle of the second set like that. But it was a unique version and you have to dig the Marley teases.
12/29 has a pretty good Chalkdust, a surprisingly unterrible SOAM and what else of note? A botched Destiny?
Pretty sure 12/28 was the best show top to bottom. :-D

It all tends to blend together in one awesome blur. Let me help you remember your thoughts during that second set...
Sand - 'Sweet let's boogie'
CDT>Ghost - 'This is awesome'
BDTNL - 'I gotta pee'
Simple - 'Skkyyyyscccraaappeers'
Melt - 'Mmmmmm. Meeellltty.'
e. Julius - 'Sweet lets boogie/This is awesome' reprise
Honestly, the Simple is the throwaway in this 2nd set and I wouldn't throw it away.
The Sand is cool, CDust is awesome, Ghost is cool and the way to fades into BDTNL is excellent. It's a Nice #Line, too. It's not jammed out but it's a fine cap to 50 minutes of music.
Simple is short and whatever but there is a Martian Monster tease at the end.
Then Melt is pretty sick.
