AfterMidnight

this was my first phish show i was a senior in high school and i went with some friends that have been seeing phish since 92. there was a TON of hype before the show. my friends walked away very unhappy being that it was my 1st show i also thought "yea very bad show". mostly due to the fact they were disappointed. granted this was nothing like a show from 92 but i think the second set is pretty slick. anyone agree with me that this second set might get over looked?

DoW

it's a show that didn't live up to expectations but I thought it was ok.
I wouldn't call it underated because it was a significant show but I listen to it every once in a while.

G. Augusto

Most consider that set the best of the run.

AfterMidnight

when they played kung.. i was thinking WTF is going on.

mbw

i'd say it would be a pretty great first (2.0) phish show.
as long as you weren't in line getting nachos at setbreak...

Set 1: Harry Hood, Cavern, Birds of a Feather, Ya Mar, Horn, Piper, Anything But Me, Water in the Sky, Down with Disease

Set 2: Rock and Roll -> Weekapaug Groove[1] -> Tweezer Reprise[2] > Frankenstein -> Kung -> Frankenstein, All of These Dreams, The Wedge, Boogie On Reggae Woman > Cities > Maze, Waste

Encore: Bug

I like the jams in bold, the Piper has a kind of driving dissonance to its funk that I like.

^^^That makes sense about Kung. Me, I was pumped--caught two Kungs in one year. bvaz and G. Augusto write truth as well. This is the only show of this run I listen to.

i'm a fan of the first set of the first show of this run, but this one is the other good one.
all you have to do is delete all of these dreams, and you're left with a very hot set.

I use records for that and don't have to justify it to my friends.

agree with that.
but i also feel they played that song for reason & meaning. (just like every other song played that night)
the lyrics reflect on their career.

QuoteThere is a place on the mountain near by
Deep in a cave but its up rather high
There in the darkness I safely concealed
All of the dreams that you never revealed

And if you go there, and after you do
All of these dreams would be yours to persue
The rest of your lifetime, devoid of a care
If you keep your eyes open, you may find yourself there

Such is the promise, such is the curse
You could just live your life better or worse
Knowing the cache of dreams up on that hill
Beckons and sways but won't bend to your will

You might find a river under a mountain that
feeds a remote, subteranian fountain
drink from this taste just a hint of a dream
that some how leads in to the underground stream

And if you go there, and after you do
All of these dreams would be yours to persue
The rest of your lifetime, devoid of a care
If you keep your eyes open, you may find yourself there

If you keep your heart open

..or at least that's how i took it.
