I'm not sure if I followed this thread correctly, but what guys are saying is that Dave Thomas sold crack in inner-city DC in the mid-80's, right?

I kinda think the playing hit an apex late 2010, then another apex end-of-summer 2011.  But the flubs have come back, and the setlists took a nosedive with the exception of maybe UIC

I think we need a surrender to the air tour.

Pretty much my thoughts.

You never drink alone when you have something good to listen to.

I voted 2009 as that is the year I saw or heard the most highlights, and the highlights have become fewer it seems as the years roll by.  Trey's whale made most tapes unlistenable but you can't argue with some stand out shows from that year.

Red Rocks was quite an experience, as was the Sneaking Sally, Light, and Rock and Roll from the Gorge.  The MSG run that year was a little underwhelming but I remember that YEM from 12/3 well and we still talk about it today in high regard.  Throw in the best NYE run of the 3.0 era and IMO we have a winner.

My highlight for 2011 still stands as a tech rehersal...
We are all and we are all we are
Far flung bits of Sun and bits of Stars
From the  ocean from the land from the
beginning to end
Backwards forwards back toward
we belong

I had mistakenly allowed the tail end of 2010 Fall Tour (esp. Augusta, Utica and Manchester) to raise my expectations for 2011.  Oops

It's been downhill since Festival 8.

Hulk juice supply started running out around that time?  :|
