i saw the good shepard a couple nights ago.  it was a long movie, and kinda slow, but i really enjoyed it.  there is a great twist in the end, and kudos to matt damon for being able to carry some really good roles.  angelina jolie was really good in it as well.

Yeah I really dug that one...

You're entitled to your opinion but I'm going to laugh at it.

jaimie! hide yer shame!

i love that little movie.
made by john sayles, one of the granddaddys of indy cinema.
his best movie is probably Matewan, a b/w movie about coal miners in virginia in the depression, or thereabouts.
sayles used to make lots of money writing and/or rewriting big hollywood movies, then use the money to finance his little movies. smart guy. for example, he wrote The Howling, a pretty decent werewolf movie from '81 (though not as good as the other werewolf movie of '81, An American Werewolf in London, written and directed by john landis, of Animal House and Blues Brothers fame).

i just saw a screening of Pennies from Heaven, an odd little musical from '82 starring steve martin, bernadette peters and christopher walken. it didn't do well when it came out because it's rather depressing for a musical. ths songs are all from the '30s or so, and the actors just mouth the words while doing all sorts of dance numbers, the conceit being that steve martin is imagining everyone singing and dancing. steve martin's a damn fine tap dancer. and christopher walken-- well, you may know he can dance from that fatboy slim video, but he's amazing in this movie, does some amazing tap dancing while doing a strip-tease. it's something else.

my younger brother rented a movie and asked me to watch it with him last night since it was a school night and it was midnight, so his friends weren't out.

and i quote, "i got it 'cause jessica simpson's in it... she's got a nice rack..."

he's 16...
so needless to say, i watched employee of the month.
it was ok.. dane cook was kind of a let down.
there were a few one-liners that had me laughing...
can't say i'd watch it again....
honest to the point of recklessness...                     ♫ ♪ ılıll|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|̲̅̅=̲̅̅|̲̅̅●̲̅̅|llılı ♪ ♫

little known fact: Dane Cook is NOT funny.

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.
