Sweeeeet!!!!
I'll be putting in for a terrace campsite, camping with the best amenities, you can put up to six people in there and it's just me and my bro so let me know if anybody else wants in.
Gonna be awesome dudes!
when does one buy camping tickets to the gorge? My wife is on board and I'm now putting my chances at 99%
Oh Shit!
Should be the same as the regular Ticketmaster on sale date.
It's a little pricey but we should all try to do terrace, it's totally worth it.
Do you recall approximately how much the terrace camping was last time? What are the main differences between terrace and premier?
It's probably gonna be in the $450 range for three nights.
Pros:
Shorter/no line for shuttles
More bathrooms/showers
Larger campsite with picnic table
Better view
Can sort of hear sound check
Coffee and donuts in the morning
Cons:
Longer walk to gen camping
In 2013 high winds blew our ez up off a ledge and broke it
We should all definitely try to coordinate and camp in the same section. If people don't want to spend the money for terrace I could do premier too.
In. And may be interested in camping

Gonna be rollin with some OR friends. Think we are going to try to get premier or terrace on public sale, something above general at least...
Myself and the wife are in. I'm down with trying to camp with the crew, just point me in the right direction. We are thing about renting a fully loaded vw vanagon for the week, thus avoiding having to either drag everything out there with us or purchasing gear when we arrive.

Yeah, if you are going to camp, renting a Sprinter or similar camping van is the best way for two people to do it. Tenting at the Gorge for 3 days is pretty brutal unless you enjoy falling asleep at 7 and waking up at 9 because your tent is 100 degrees, it's bathed in blazing sunlight and the people next to you are having a Disco Party brunch. Another good reason for Terrace camping. You can stay up and do your thing, but for the most part, it's quiet. Also, actual bathrooms and showers, not porta potties. Even VIP camping has scud bathrooms and showers. Just a little less people.
If you do need a RV/van, I'd try and make a reservation now, they're going to get snapped up (if they are not already). You need AC at the Gorge.
Either way, pumped to see you out here!
Also, Terrace camping gets snapped up fast. Pretty much need to go for those during on sale before getting your show tix.

It sells out quick because it's small, less than a 100 sites probably, so we'll be relatively close no matter what.
However, I will have room at my site for 4 if you want to coordinate and share.

Seattle lol. Wenatchee is the only airport to fly into. Believe me. Even if I lived in Seattle, I would fly to Wenatchee. Thinking about doing it myself this year.

Wife and I did it in Hawaii and had a blast.
Planning to do it with the kids in Cali some time next year.

It's $300 and gets you there in 2 hours. Consider that I will be spending about $200 on gas, it's not that crazy. If it drops down to $250, I might pull the trigger. Sitting on a plane drinking for 2 hours sounds lot better to me than driving for 5 and a half.
ETA: Plus, I can be back in Portland by 8AM on Monday which helps with work and the kids.

Not a bad plan.
I mean, can you even rent a car at the Wenatchee airport?
Don't know. My plan was to Uber the 15 minutes to the condo and rely on the shuttle. But after putting in for 6 tickets today ($500) my plan is seeming a little more like a pipe dream. I suppose I'll just drive and pick my friends up the airport :|

Ah, yeah hopefully they have a spot for you because those are all gone.
I'll ask my people. My one buddy said hes out already. So hold a spot for me if you can as a contingency. I'll let you know ASAP
You dudes flying into Seattle I presume?
Seattle lol. Wenatchee is the only airport to fly into. Believe me. Even if I lived in Seattle, I would fly to Wenatchee. Thinking about doing it myself this year.
You seem awfully drunk for 6 o'clock on a Sunday night.
So you helicopter in from the airport then?
It's pretty crazy dude.

So my Portland friends are suggesting Gold camping - or premier over the terrace...whats the differences? Looks like from the website the Terrace is greener grasses and quieter. It says Gold still has private restrooms and free showers - no donuts and coffee though.

Gold is the closest to the venue, but then it's a long hike if you want to hit shakedown after the shows, so I'd vote against that.
I broke down the differences premier and terrace in the conversation quoted in the second post here.
Terrace is definitely nicer, but I could be talked into premier to save money.
To me, Premier is really the same as general camping, just smaller. The locale is basically the same and although it is not as crazy, it's still pretty crazy and still pretty huge. Regular camping is super huge, premier is just less huge. I like Terrace because it's only a few hundred people. Gold seems OK, you are really close to the venue but really removed from the other campsites. If you can wrangle Handicap camping, that's pretty sweet. It's basically at the entrance to the venue. Last time, it gen pop was so crowded and my friends rolled in right before the first show started and they just put them in the handi camping. It's super chill.

Premier is way more chill than general. Plus it has shuttles and real bathrooms.
But it's definitely not baller like terrace.
word! Thanks for the info dudes!
Think we are going to try for Premier at on sale to save some coin. Who knows, could end up in Terrace if we pull a pass at on sale.
I'd say you can add Michelle and I to this RC. We're at 90%....
I'm trying so hard to be responsible and not commit until I know Jauntee's summer schedule... but, in reality...it's gonna take a quite serious show offer conflict to draw me away from the Gorge. I missed '15 and that was just one time too many...
Plus, I'm only 2 shows behind Birdman... and he's going... so I clearly need to keep up to surpass.

On a raft, in the Columbia river is also an acceptable answer.
what about IN A VAN, DOWN BY THE RIVER???
We were able to wrangle a gold camping spot. Looks like it's right next to the venue entrance. Camping area is 25x50 of flat ground. That should suffice.

That's a good place to be. Far from the main campground but I'd rather be close to the venue and away from the mayhem. You can go up there any time. You pretty much have to resign yourself to walking 10 miles a day at the Gorge. It's all good though.
Yeah. Either your walking from the normal campground to the venue. Or walking from gold/Terrance to shakedown to party. Kinda nice to have a choice of leaving the mayhem though.

I mean the view, I will look like that regardless.
It's an interesting move doing 3 nights out there. Do you all think it will help them draw more people? The amount of extras on the internet is nuts, but I guess the gorge is always like that. Does anyone sell out the gorge??
My pet theory is that Live Nation made them an offer they couldn't refuse to do three nights to try and help keep the venue afloat.
Sasquatch used to sell out a few years back when they were getting better line ups but now that's dunzo.
I think without the big fest and Phish and DMB only playing every 2-3 years the future of the venue is in doubt. Three days of Phish and DMB this summer should at least help 2018 get into the black.

Yikes! Sounds exactly like the situation with Alpine Valley. Gotta say the demise of Alpine Valley turned into a positive with Phish and Dead choosing Northerly, Wrigley, Soldier Field, and Allstate. All much better venues in my opinion. Maybe Phish summer shows in the actual city limits of Seattle and Portland aren't too far away. Enjoy those Ph Gorge shows! That shit might not last!!
yeah, they were saying last time was going to be the last one too. Venue is living on borrowed time. There is just nothing out there anymore. No more Warped either. And it is in the middle of nowhere.
Whens everyone arriving?
