"Kramer" from seinfeld
***not work friendly***
you decide.........
I'd like to think it was cutting-edge comedy, but Kramer seemed pissed and serious. I think Seinfeld is going to be on Letterman tonight. Interesting to see what he has to say.
only thing that bothers me is "the man" rant that ensues after the initial comments.
I heard that it is brought up on Letterman and Jerry isn't pleased at all
Kramer looks stupid without the fro, he needs the fro

that's one of the more disturbing meltdowns i've ever seen.
there's a lot one can get away with if there's a joke involved.
no punchline to this routine, though.

Just hours after online video surfaced of his racist tirade at a comedy club, former Seinfeld star Michael Richards appeared on CBS's Late Show with David Letterman Monday night to apologize.
"I lost my temper on stage. I was trying to do my act and I got heckled. I took it badly and went into a rage and said some really nasty things to some Afro-Americans," Richards tells Letterman via satellite. "I'm really busted up over this. I'm really, really sorry.
"I'm concerned about the anger coming through. I'm deeply, deeply sorry. I'm not a racist, that's what so insane about this.... I just have to do personal work. I'm still reeling from this."
Richards, best known as Kramer from the hit series, hurled racial epithets at black audience members who apparently heckled him during a standup show in L.A. on Friday night.
MZ posted a video of the incident on Monday (click here to watch the video). It shows Richards, 57, taunting the men for interrupting his show. "Shut up! Fifty years ago we'd have you upside down with a f–ing fork up your a–," he yells.
He paces the stage, then continues: "You can talk, you can talk, you can talk, you're brave now mother–. Throw his a– out. He's a n–!"
Richards then screams the n-word four more times while pointing to the hecklers in the balcony, drawing uncomfortable murmurs from the crowd. The two sides continue to trade insults, and then Richards eventually leaves the stage for good.
"I went back onstage that night and I apologized to quite a few people," Richards tells Letterman. "I didn't get to talk to everyone. They left. And they went to the press as they should have."
The incident took place at The Laugh Factory, a comedy club in West Hollywood.
Jerry Seinfeld was already scheduled to appear on Letterman's show, and tells Letterman about the incident with his friend and former costar, "I did talk to him today I was extremely upset about it and he's extremely upset about it so I invited him on the show. He's mystified about what happened."
The Laugh Factory has banned Richards and promised to post a warning to all comedians to avoid offensive language.

It was actually Jerry's idea to get him to apologize on the air...that's probably why it happened so fast...otherwise he would have had to do the morning talk show circuit for awhile...
Man losing his mind with witnesses.
Comedy, It's not.
i just watched the youtube clip of the letterman apology.
yikes!
it's about the most uncomfortable six minutes i've ever experienced.
not pretty to watch a guy's career end so abruptly.
no way michael richards gets any work for a long, long time after this.

Definitely uncomfortable. I can't even believe thats the same man who portrayed Kramer.

I guess he and Gibson are starting a new club called FUHollywood
Highly uncalled for behavior. He was probably on a rage inducing substance
Jeers to NBC and Matt Lauer for running their cheesey noses in the mess. The 2 victims were on the Today show wearing new khaki's and dress shirts sponsored by the peacock. Richards was way out of line but here goes our media w/ this weeks news special. Will Richards end up paying the victims $millions?
My Afircan American basketball coach called me a cracker on a daily basis for years, where the fuck is my house in the hamptons  :?

Excellent column by Leonard Pitts Jr. on the subject, he sums up my thoughts much more eloquently than I ever could:
''Throw his ass out! He's a nigger! He's a nigger! He's a nigger! A nigger! Look, there's a nigger!''
- Michael Richards, The Laugh Factory in Hollywood, Nov. 17
''I'm not a racist. That's what's so insane about this.''
- Michael Richards, ''The Late Show with David Letterman,'' Nov. 20.
You'd think one of the first things a stand-up comic learns is how to deal with hecklers. One recalls Richard Pryor's jab at some fool who blew a whistle in the middle of his monologue. ''This ain't Kool and the Gang, motherfornicator!'' Except, he didn't say motherfornicator.
Apparently, Michael Richards was absent from Comedy 101 the day they studied Heckler Management. Hence, the epic, headline-making meltdown quoted above. It happened last week after Richards was razzed - benignly, by most accounts - by some black folks in the crowd.
As a result, a pointed question is now being debated on the air, online and in print: Is Michael Richards a racist? Let me save us all a lot of time: Yes. It seems obvious that ''Seinfeld's'' Kramer, his claims to the contrary notwithstanding, has no use for, as he put it in his rambling, disjointed, and painful-to-watch apology on Letterman, ''Afro Americans.''
I have a reader who would disagree with me on that. She sent an e-mail a few days ago hoping to pre-empt my calling Richards racist. In it, she asked that I consider the possibility he's no bigot but simply a man who, in anger, reached instinctively for the most hurtful language he could find. We've all been there, right?
Well, no. Richards' rant, according to the cell-phone video of it posted online, lasted a good 2 1/2 minutes. You might angrily snap that somebody is a ''fat so-and-so'' without really meaning it. You don't spend 2 1/2 minutes calling them fat unless fat is ''exactly'' what you mean.
Truth to tell, what bothers me most about my reader's explanation is simply that she felt compelled to make it, to postulate an alternate reason for Richards' behavior. Evidently she found the likeliest reason too hard to accept. Nor is she alone. TMZ.com, the Web site that obtained the footage of Richards, polled its users with this question: Is Richards a racist? Forty percent of the respondents said no.
Granted, the survey is not scientific, but it is instructive. And no, it makes no difference to me that some black people freely use the same word Richards did. I consider them just as hateful as I do him, except with them, it's hatred of self.
But frankly, Richards is not the point here. He's just a TV used-to-be who has likely immolated what remains of his career. So be it.
No, here's what bothers me: If so many of my white fellow Americans refuse to recognize racism when it is this blatant and unmistakable, what expectation can we have that they will do so when it is subtle and covert? In other words, when it is what it usually is.
After all, modern bigotry usually isn't some nitwit screaming the N-word. It is jobs you don't get and loans you don't get and apartments you don't get and health care you don't get and justice you don't get, for reasons you get all too clearly, even though no one ever quite speaks them. Or needs to. It is smiles in your face and knives in your back. And it is, yes, a sitcom - like ''Seinfeld'' - that presents New York City, of all places, as a black-free zone.
These are complaints blacks have sought for years to drive home to their fellow Americans only to be met largely by indifference, the defensive apathy of those who are free to ignore or diminish any claim on conscience that makes them uncomfortable. At the risk of metaphor abuse, the response to this debacle makes clear that you can't explain Advanced Racism to those who haven't passed Racism 101.
And, with all due respect to my correspondent, that need to make excuses gets old. The man spent 2 1/2 minutes screaming racial insults. You say that's not racism?
Then, pray tell, what is?

wow. i'm so glad THIS white guy isn't a racist. why, he even knows which blacks are self-hating!
Leonard Pitts Jr. is a card carrying black man.
self'd, btw
i can understand why richards looked quite disturbed on letterman, but anyone who rants like that for as long as he did has a problem. this is not about being pc, I think good natured jokes are fine. Richard's comments, like Mel Gibson's a few months ago, are clearly over the line and indicate their true, dark, inner feelings
great read ikki.
