JRAD 2nd night from their NOLA Jazzfest run at Mardi Gras World - SBD just released today on Archive.

This was by far the better show of the two. The 2nd set Tell Me Mama->Cumberland/Big River mashup was memorable, for sure! Pretty excited to listen all the way through again.

love that show on tape.
its a shame it was 'off the path'  between St louis and alpine.
i know a good amount of us on tour had to skip it to make better time.

that 7-31-98 1st set is fire.  MY friend opener?! Cities, Stash... my kind of set.

-i'm finishing up 8-1 today. such a interesting show. sorry i cant paste lists here, but i gotta say Alpine might take the cake for best show on paper from the tour. Though in reality more like 5th or so for me.

this list though, c'mon...  !st time played Ramble on opener, and 1st time played Been caught stealing encore. Early 1st set Mikes>Esther>Paug. 2nd set is a dream list- Piper, Wilson>2001>magilla>2001>tweezer Fluffhead... even the B/R outta fluff ithought might be the best trransition for B/r i'd ever heard. place was so jacked they had to do double the cool down with ALbaquerqe...

Playing wise a very solid show that really exhibits really how consistent they actually were in summer 98.
For me though the real 'energy' of the show doesnt kick in until about half way through the Tweezer jam which is a sorta ambient spacey thing. BUT MAN THIS FLUFFHEAD. top shelf. I just listened intently to this thing and gotta say an almost flawless version composition wise which delievers with liftoff and got me the chills at peak. I wouldnt argue if someone said this moment was the peak  of tour.

ps- i got in free off a fake ticket to this show, lol, thanks to the 15 yr olds  working the gate for summer job.  8-)

Celebrating Jerry tonight w/ this one.  Interestingly 15 years ago tonight stuck in line at the IT when the Bunny dropped a couple of Jer tunes including this The Harder They Come.

Damn.  Have heard this show a bunch, but this sounds fucking sick.

Me, too... somewhere. I mean, it's probably a medium and I'm definitely an XXL these days... but it was my first concert, so, I have it somewhere.
