2nd set was good. not a fan of walls of the cave closer, but that's my only complaint...COUCH TOUR!
Tuned in for set 2 only. It was solid as can be.

2nd set was the best of the run for sure so far.
Weekapaug was simply amazing. Very un phishy sounding.
Doesn't get much better than a sleeping monkey>Rocky top encore for me.

I'm sorry....but that 'Paug was a slopfest.
Weird song placements as well.....
On a positive note, this show was an entire 1/2hr longer than the night before.

Yeah that weekapaug was the highlight of the run so far. Mind blowing. Crowd responded with a huge ovation.
Seriously. That Paug was other-worldy. A caucauphony of psychedelic sound. Completely unique from any other phish jam I've seen before.
I was obviously joking about "best ever" but it was the coolest Paug I've seen!
Yeah that Weekapaug is why I see Phish.
Page KILLIN' it on the synth bass, Mike whalin' on the guitar with delay like a psychedelic warrior and Trey completely in the zone behind fishman. Shit was so awesome!

Firat stuff I've heard from the run so far.
I love that this band can still blow my mind. The Paug was a stunning thing to behold. Completely original. CK5 killing it with horizontally sweeping rainbow colors while Mike shredded away. Afterwards I turned to my wife and said, "Mike Gordon just played the best guitar you'll hear all year." Whether that turns out to be true or not, in the moment it had every feeling of credibility. Trey, perhaps himself energized by what the bassist had just done to his axe, proceeded to kill it for the rest of the set, including a remarkable Slave that peaked I don't know how many times.
For now, out of deference to the 24 hour rule, I will say no more.

Certainly very ripping and certainly not even close to the best ever. It's definitely cool to see them take chances though. Seemed unplanned to these eyes...

In all honesty now, the jam section is quite interesting. Definitely interesting to watch. I'm just not a fan of these slower 'Paugs.....Trey just can't hold it down on this song anymore. Fan pick then 2 note peaks? Wtf is that shit.
Trey couldn't hold his own, and that's a shame to see....I dunno what it is about his approach that has changed, but it's almost as if he doesn't even try anymore.....just kinda goes through the motions, plays octaves, fan picks single notes..and it comes and goes, once in a while you get a flash of inspiration and Trey wakes up and shreds a lick/run and then goes back to sleep.......all while the rest of the guys are at least attempting to sound fresh.
Page definitely wins MVP on this 'Paug though. He's the only one keepin it moving.
I thought this Weekapaug was crazy good.
So what do we think, one more tour with the Thrilling/Chilling samples, then retire them?
I'm just hoping that they bring back Tucking.

I re-listened to Martian Monster from 31Dec.14, really dig it. It might be better for Page to create his own, non-Disney samples/effects and retain the original jams.
I'm relistening to this show and I remarked on how the first set was pleasantly devoid of poorly played throwaway songs.

Eh, Stash was OK. Not great, but not bad. The Line started off poorly (was Trey even in the right key?) and ended worse.

Now now, there were some rushed peaks thrown in there too.
Just re-listened to the Stash with the Mike's> 46 Days > Weekapaug and it's crazy, they don't even sound like the work of the same band. Even the Mike's which isn't off the charts or anything has so much more creativity and urgency/fire than the Stash.
Whatever Trey did at setbreak on this night, I'll have some of it.
This is something that puzzles me about Phish 3.0. In the Betty Ford Clinic days you could at least imagine that crazy, wild things at setbreak precipitated the crazy, wild second sets. But nowadays, the first set/second set dichotomy still largely holds true but I can't figure out the obvious reason why.

mike jam is pretty decent too.
Listened to this Weekapaug a couple times today it's bananas with 3 or 4 really cool sections.
Also, before Mike's Song on the LivePhish source someone yells "Trey you're from Jersey, don't you forget it"
