Seems to do many of the things people get Apple TV, Roku, etc. for but at a much more attractive price. I've no need for one since ATV has me covered but I like the concept and simplicity.
Is this still Wombat?

i don't really have a need for one but it's a cool concept.  the 3-months of Netflix was very tempting too, but they ended that promotion after 24 hours apparently due to too high demand.  shitty.

I plug my 360 into my router and get most of the same features, but I dig the idea. I may get one for my mom and grandma so that they can share my Netflix account.

You haven't lived until you've had a robot shart in your ear and followed along in the live setlist thread while it happens.

i should have said everyone besides the handful of mac people here who would hate it even if it streamed porn and blew you at the same time cause it doesnt have a picture of an apple on it.  :-P

yeah, i get that you can stream netflix/go online with a bunch of other devices, none that i know of for $35 though.
i really like the idea of just throwing whatever is on your phone up on the big screen whenever without having to fire up another device, and being able to control volume and shit right through your phone.  will especially be useful with google music, since i lost my aperion streaming thingy a while back.

The wife will love this since I keep all the tech toys down in the man cave. Now she'll be able to enjoy Netflix upstairs as well.

I got my HDTV in 06 - I don't think I have the right port for it

Is it not used in a standard HDMI port?

The Chromecast dongle measures just 2 inches and runs a basic version of Chrome. The service can be easily setup, as it only needs to be plugged in the TV's HDMI and to be connected to the wireless network. Once that's done, you'll be able to "cast" videos from YouTube and other sources – including Netflix, Google Play, Vimeo, and other online sources – directly from the cloud to the TV.

I thought it needed USB power - but could be wrong. I know HDMI supplies minimal power, but maybe that's enough for this, which is über-impressive.

The HDMI in (where my cable goes) is 3 RCA plugs

I'm in the same boat.
My old HDTV refuses to die and I don't have HDMI.

eta: Cool device, though.

I think it has a separate power cord too.

Yes,it definitely uses USB for power. If your tv has a USB port, that should be enough, or it comes with a plug.

It's not usb. It's hdmi.

If this were compatible with VLC, it'd destroy all.
