Mets n' Dodgers
Wanks n' Tigers
A's n' Twins
Cards n' Pads
Personally, i would like the Tigers to beat the Wankees.
Twins over the A's.
and i would like to see the Pads win, so we can have Piazza back at home and kick his ass there.
and, of course..........
LET'S GO METS!!!!!
4 PM start time!?

that sounds like the Orioles lost to me!
a
Yanks baby!! Time to put the women and children to bed and do our thing!!
My only worry is Randy - you Mets fans have a hell of a lot more to be nervous about, losing your top 2 pitchers. That's what you get for signing two pitchers whose combined ages approach triple digits...
Anybody but the Yankee's (or Tigers, or A's).
About 3 months ago I guarenteed that the Tigers would'nt win a playoff series, I'm interested to see how that plays out.

Ouch!!!!! Yup, another dismal season. So bad that the fans organized and actually walked out of a game in the second inning towards the end of the season to help encourage angelos to sell the team. However, if I had to choose a team to win it, I would love to see the tigers go all the way!!!! Restore the roar!!!!!!!

if Maine wins it tonight, it would put even more fire under our asses!
a
lets go yankees!
we're in desperate need of that 27th championship
if the yanks get knocked off in the first round, there is a really good chance that Steinbrenner
will have a heart attack.

I'm rooting for that. OK, not really, but I'm always against the Yankees.
I'll take the Mets, no joke.
LET'S GO METS!!!!!
Mets should still have enough to beat the Dodgers.
A win by Maine or at least a Game 1 win is important though.
I need to inject some humanity into this thread. Screw the Yankees. They're the best team that money can assemble. That's corporate dominance. Imagine a team that hasn't had a winning season in 13 years suddenly making it to the playoffs. Imagine a city with no hope except for its baseball team. Yea, I'm talking about the Tigers. Tonight's the night. My prediction: Tigers 5, Yankees 3. You wait and see, Mattstick. The Tigers will prevail. :-D
sorry flow, i got your message(s) this morning.
didnt want to get you at work.
but my answer is...
yes, the tigers are gonna win and, yes...she is down with that.
a
METS ALL THE WAY!
lets go mets...
even though my ex is the reason i got into them and she should suffer...
the Tigers have as big of a chance of winning this series as a non-Kenyan does of winning any marathon.

The Bears!
they don't count, the rest of the NFC is menstruating at the moment.
If the Yankees lose to the Tigers i wiil go walk naked in the Bronx one night. It's just not gonna happen. Even tho they lost today they got way too much hitting for the Tigers to stop. My only worry (like Tet) is Johnson pitching tomorrow. Not to mention A-Rod. But besides that they are loaded. I just cant see the Tigers winning this series. And i'm waiting for the Mets to blow this game tonight. Even tho I would like to see another Subway Series. The first one,Yankees-Mets (not including the 15 or so other New York only series) ended perfectly.

What the F*** happened w/ the Yankees? If I havent invested so many years in rooting for them I would throw them under the bus for what's happened these last three years. Unfortunately, it does not seem that many of the players have the right attitude to compete for a championship every year, A-Rod anyone? It seams like Jeter is the only one in the line-up w/ mental toughness to handle pressure in the playoffs. Oh well, should be an interesting offseason to say the least.
I've never been more glad a prediction I made did'nt pan out!
Congrats Tigers!

Get walking, baby! The Tigers are for real. I'm going to at least two of the ALCS games next weekend to watch the Tigers put an end to the A's. No one seemed to have faith in the top pitching team in the majors. A team with rookies, washed-out veterans and a dream to lift a sinking city beat the best team money can buy. It's great to live in Detroit right now. Everything here is turning around for the better, and it's propelling the baseball team. It's almost magical. Fireworks lit up the sky, and people forgot about their plight. What a great day for the country's forgotten city.

Bears!
da bears look quite legit. it looks like the road to the super bowl will be thru chi town come january.
I think we're realizing that even though we've heard that their opponents are weak, the Seahawks are 3-1, Minnesota 3-2, and the Bills 2-3 (although they were expected to be a lot better) the Bears have not only defeated their opponents, but in many cases, crushed them. Yeah, the Pack and the Lions blow, but there's the any given sunday rule. This week is the Cardinals. Now the bears should rip them a new one (the early line is 10.5 points on the road), but you never know. These guys need an undefeated season. I know this is a baseball thread, but I can't help it. You fantasy players better start hookin up Berrian. ans when the run is on, grab some Thomas Jones cuz hell start getting 100 yard games (I bet he's running a lot against the Cards). And always bet on the Bears D.
WWWOOOOOOOHOOOO. I'm finally back to where football is fun to watch. It's only been about 20 years.
J
The Tigers can't be stopped, baby. Bring it on Mets!
Mets fan since '78....season ticket holder 84-93.....saw 2 games of '86 series including the Buckner game..Gotta believe baby! Mets, Mets, Mets......waiting to hear if I get tix in the lottery, if not it's scalper city baby and I'm flying back from PDX to rock it....fuck yeah bitch, this is our year (finally!)....
As far as football is concerned, just give the Bears the trophy (even though I am a true blue Giants fan)...Chicago is on fuego...
So the story behind the rain out is that Chris Carpenter may start Game 2 instead of Game 3 on normal days rest. Well, in case ESPN can't do the math, he still only gets 2 starts in the series (if it gets that far) and playing 5 staright days definitely favors the team with the better bullpen which is the Mets.
The Mets need to start scoring early and often and get into St. Louis' bullpen as much as possible.
As much as I hate rain outs, it is nice to know the mets/Cards now play 5 straight days.
bvaz, they are gonna keep Carpenter in the third slot, but that means that we are gonna have to start Perez in Game 4.
no biggee.

Strawberry continues to amaze me
from NYT
QuoteIn about three months, Darryl Strawberry has gone from wanting no part of the Mets to throwing out the first pitch for Game 1 of the National League Championship Series. Strawberry had a recent dispute over money with the team that caused him to initially turn down the Mets' invitation to be part of their August celebration honoring the 1986 World Series-winning team. But he resolved the issue and said he was excited about being part of the organization again. "It means a great deal to me, to really tie the bond here, because it was very special for me to play here and win the rookie of the year and win a championship in '86," Strawberry said. "You know, the great years that we all had here, the bond that I have that's really starting to develop back with this organization, it means to me more than anybody could imagine."
great ballplayer in his time, bad head. a waste

Lookin' good (so far) for those TIGERS!!!!!!!
I'm kinda hoping the Tigers lose at least one game because I have tickets to game 5. And karma for you, Antelope, for rooting for the Tigers.
Yeah boy, Mets are on the way. Game Two is huge for the Cards, I'm hoping Carp gets rattled early. He needs to throw a gem to stop the Amazins....I was notified by the Mets today that I made the cut to purchase tickets online Monday for the series, so I am stoked. They better f-ing make it!

Bad things happen when you find out that your favorite bar has wireless internet access. I'm on beer number ... um, I forget, but the Tigers just won game number three. I feel sorry for you August and the rest of you Mets fans. The roar is back. Did I mention I'm drunk?

Down 3-2, but I am opitimistic. Why?
1) the Mets are going home
2) consider this history
1994 - sls goes to CA during Stanley Cup finals - Rangers win
2000 - sls goes to CA, Mets beat Giants (i got home before the WS started)
2004 - sls goes to the Berkshires - Red Sox complete come back, beat the Yanks
2006 - sls going to CA today....
fill in the blank, but if history is any clue, it will be Mets-Tigers
Gotta believe.......Me last night = :frustrated:
Even though we're going against Carp, he has been slipping in post season play....
don't expect carp to slip 3x in a row:)
While I don't think it really is much fun for either team to go to the Detroit Slaughter, I do think the Cards will pull it out:
oh well...........so much for that idea:)
guess it's comes down to 2nite.
for the record, i am still going with the Mets in 5.
