You can hear the germinating seeds of the wooing as early as the Merriweather Light (which rules, btw).

I listened to a bunch of 2013 highlights yesterday, in sequential order through Tahoe, and there's good stuff to be had even before that show.
Is this still Wombat?

Gorge is still the best stand of the year....

Interesting.
My unscientific method of determining interest in shows reveals that, on the paug, the Gorge shows are the 7th (7/27) & 8th (7/26) least discussed shows of the year.
That is based on replies in the post-show threads and does not account for post-whoring, flame wars, and the fact that other threads are newer/older.

For the record, least discussed:

01 - Hollywood Bowl
02 - BGCC 2
03 - MPP
04 - BGCC 3
05 - BGCC 1
06 - Denver 2
07 - Gorge 2
08 - Gorge 1
09 - Hartford
10 - Jones Beach

Interesting...Well, upon multiple re-listens, to me, the Gorge holds up as the most solid playing throughout, and when you factor in camping and setting and all of that, it rises to the top.  That said, set 1 of Gorge2 is pretty lackluster, but set 2 really makes up for it.  Some great stuff at BGCC and Tahoe has the Tweezer, which I love but there is not a ton more from the two nights that stand out for me.  Dick's was good but a little uneven.  Listening back to AC and the whole Fall Tour in general and it is all full of win.  But going back to the Gorge, when you factor in all other non-playing factors, it easily rises to the top- but the playing is super solid througout.  Legal weed doesn't hurt either.

I composed that post because, I saw your and really had to think about The Gorge and what was played, etc and found that it didn't stick out in my memory. That lead me to go looking for the thread where I realized that I fianlly had a test case for my completely unscientific theory about discussion volume and show content. Shit shows break the theory too as we love to discuss them but it was a fun exercise.

That said, I'll go revisit the Gorge shows.

My highlights of the weekend were C&P, Undermind, Twist, McGrupp> Curtis Loew, Sally and as hard as it is to believe Character Zero.

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.

I thought the gorge run was most solid run of the summer as well. some bustouts and some good phish played both nights. Better than the second set letdowns of SF and only other run i would put up against the gorge run this summer would be tahoe.
tahoe had the tweezer though and that really did pave the way for the fall tour.
I had most fun at the MPP run.
Enjoyed parts of the Jones Beach show too, that reba, and the RnR were nice. Got a sloth and that tweezer wasnt bad.
bangor > spac run was alright. spac3 had some moments and bangor did as well (most fun was had at jauntee boat party and bangor casino afterwards). I think tahoe tweezer paved the way for fall exploration, but the chicago set2 night 2 is what really turned the band in a right direction. The jams, albeit short, were so precise and energetic. It sounded new. The band was operating on a new level, they were interacting with each other and listening. I thought chicago was going to be awarded with a lot better show on the third night then what they played ( the huge thunderstorm and rain delay didnt help either). I left that show kinda bummed.

What really pissed me off the weather this summer. The east coast leg I caught and midwest part of this summer was just rain central. literally almost eveyr show I saw this summer got rained on. Mpp1, JB, CHi1, CHI2, Chi3, SPAC3.  :shakehead:
ATL had a big storm too I think.
Def was not enjoyable being on monsoon tour 2013.
Funny cause the rest of the tour there was no rain after chicago ha.

Character Zero will never be the same for me....After howling at the moon, pretty much all future versions won't hold up for me.  When Zero is a highlight, you know it's a good one.  I got goose bumps when they turned off the lights.

Atlanta was less a storm and more just a perpetual, steady rain for most of the three plus hours and truly my least favorite Phish show of all time.   Virtually nothing to take away other than a well-played Divided and the mini jams out of a few tracks in the second set.   I'd say it was the low point of the entire summer tour.
