I have'nt seen my cousin Kathleen since she was about 12. Now she's 18 and posting hot pics of herself on Facebook. I have to ignore the comments that random dudes leave on her wall otherwise I'll turn into the Hulk and go smash some teenage boys.

We do have a stringent no dynamite policy, but prison shanks are allowed.
I resisted joining Facebook for years. It became part of my self-image, a curmudgeonly form of rebellion against mainstream behavior.
Well I finally buckled in part for professional/career reasons.

FB is pure entertainment.

I disabled mine and lasted a lot longer than I thought I would... like 2 months or something.
Not sure why I ever reactivated it. Not having Facebook actually affected my day/mood more than one might think (in a very good way).
So I'm super troubled that Facebook has become a tool for propaganda and literal fake news (not Trump-style off-brand news reports).
This Times article spells it all out nicely:
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/09/08/opinion/facebook-wins-democracy-loses.html
I guess I could delete my account in protest, but I'd rather figure out how to actively block their ads, are there any technology solutions to fuck them up?
I guess Apple is taking steps to prevent some of the tracking which allows Facebook to target people specifically...
https://techcrunch.com/2017/06/05/apple-adds-a-tracker-blocker-to-desktop-safari/
It's just depressing that this technology which could have been used to bring people together is being hijacked because it had to be profitable...

I'm literally only on FB to keep up with friends across the country and The Phellowship page (sober phish people). Otherwise I wouldn't have one.
Other than that, the politics are annoying, the ads are brutal and the memes are stale and stolen. I'm not a fan of FB
