This is such weak sauce....my plane ticket is $600, and my hotel is going to be $300 night ($900)....what's left for tickets...especially when I have to buy 2 plane tickets......That's already over 2 grand I've spent and I don;t even have show tix....fuck this, if it get's too bad, I'd just go to Hawaii for that much and wait for them to come West....

True that, but that's the res I have now.....We had $199 room at the Embassy, but they screwed us, so I am at the Courtyard...I might stay at the Residence Inn next door, waiting to see if a room opens up....still, my point is that this is gonna be bank. I am somewhat of a new kid. I have been on for a year, but had no internet for a while and then moved from east coast to west coast. Since the reunion announcement i have been back and checking alot of the threads out.
I wish Phish would go back to the old ways and do tickets-by-mail with the postal money orders. It would weed out all the scalpers and I bet EVERYONE from here would be celebrating their ticket scores!!!

I think that may be why they did it this way, to discourage people from purchasing scalped tickets, if they do it now they'll pay an astronomical price but when they announce spring/summer dates those prices will fall and all the people who paid the high prices will lose a lot a value for those tickets. At least that's what I'm telling myself so I feel better for not being able to go. :-)

actually, he staggered up unannounced to my front door step with a 6 pack of tall boys in one hand and his ticket confirmation print out in the other, asking me if messengerbird was home. lucky for me she wasn't.
but i'm pretty sure he's still in the neighborhood waiting for her to get home cuz i think i've seen him drive(/swerve) by the house a few times since then.

I disagree. I think they could have come up with a better plan. If you read other blog articles by Mr. Miner, he is definately articulate and informative.

All Im saying is people just need to accept things the way they are. There's no need to critique every move the band makes. They had their reasons.

maybe my view is a bit different since I was not going anyway.....I do remember 03 getting shut out then getting a credit card bill in the mail a few months later saying we got tix.....then we couldn't go cause we travel was too expensive for just one show.....that was a rollercoaster :frustrated:
But I don't remember people being upset they chose to play hampton then (minus MSG) was that just because of them playing one more show?? It also seems odd that people are mad at the band, more than likely we'll all get our chance this summer to see them again.....with a lot less hassle :-D

seriously. i'll be pissed if i'm shut out of hampton, but at the same time, i'm just happy they are playing again, and i'm going to get to experience the 'magic' that happens once more. waking up on a phish show day, knowing before you close your eyes again that night, you will go to a place you have never been before, in your mind, was the most amazing thing i have ever known. and i can't wait for whenever that happens again, whether that be at hampton in march, or next summer, at least now i know, it will happen again. thank you phish for coming back. thank you trey for getting clean.

Exactly. The reality is that at best they will be as good as the best PH shows, without the painful guitar tones from Trey. I'm sorry but they have families now and busier lives and will never eat-sleep-breathe Phish again enabling them to be 93-95 caliber tightness. Trey doesn't want to be the guitarist he was 10-15 years ago anyway, it required ALL of his focus, time and energy and he simply can't do it anymore. I truly feel that his style of playing now is strait from his soul and is his identity that he has matured into and can call his own, in contrast to the trey playing we know and love from the 90s that has much more influence from his inspirations. They have always been about evolving anyway. I remember thinking in 98 that it was a shame that the 97 sound had come and gone already, but that is how they are able to continue playing by constantly turning the page and taking a new direction, for better or worse.
If I am fortunate enough to be in Hampton, I will truly feel blessed to be seeing my favorite band ever once again, with my family and friends to share it with hopefully. :phish:...Living in the moment of 2009 Phish, not disappointed that they don't sound the way they have in the past.
Also, The old painful mail order process, as fun as that was buggin out at the post office, was not more fair. There was a 4 ticket limit then, how is that better in this situation? That would result in less filled requests.

It was just a different time, The Domniac Schvice instead of Phish.com. Points are well taken, but we can't actually expect them to go back to that. You could always use a CC with Ticketbastard and that is who gets the majority of tickets. Does anyone know how may of them sold through pre order. I am under the imression that it is only 10-20% and TM get the other 80-90%.

Phish should consider contracting gdtstoo for "fan club" ticket sales...

Pearl Jam used to do the same thing (prolly still do) and it's a great way to get tickets to the "fan club" members and offer good seats, taboot.
Is there an official Fan Club for Phish? Obviously the 'paug is probably top of the list... :wink:
mail order was 3 days instead of 8, much better there. What if it were only 1 day? It would suck if you were busy that day, but all of us and other every day fans would have got in a request and thousands of part time casual fans that haven't hardly thought of them in 4 years wouldn't have found out in time.

completely convinced that he is working towards being better than ever before. So much definition and purpose in his playing. He looks like a man on a mission. 2009 Phish has the potential to be as good or even better than any other year (different obviously) in the past... yup, I just said that... It's just a matter of being able to get in to see it.
