When they dropped into the 12/6/97 post-Izabella funk during Tube on 12/7/97 everyone was hating it.

I can't tell if you're being serious.
I've been coming to where I am from the get go
Find that I can groove with the beat when I let go
So put your worries on hold
Get up and groove with the rhythm in your soul

Everything is connected, because it's all being created by this one consciousness. And we are tiny reflections of the mind that is creating the universe.

The only problem with that Carini RJ is this....

Listen to the SPAC Carini.....then listen to the MSG Carini....

Recycled much?

And this is new behavior?
I think not.

I can't ever recall people complaining about the proliferation of pornofunk jamming in the 97-98 era.

Exactly.
in fact, I'm fairly certain that some people are still sad that they don't keep doing that now.

I sat out most of the second half of the 90s, but caught 2 shows in 1997: the first two nights of Worcester, T-day weekend.

By the second night, I was getting kind of tired of the cowfunk; they 'redeemed' themselves with the hour long Runaway Jim.

Looking back now, it's just another moment in a sea of great moments. I remember getting annoyed with Trey's new guitar sounds in summer '94, too.

The takeaway here, imo: de gustibus non disputandum. There's no point arguing over taste (even your own).

well boys, we fucked up by not being there.

I was wondering what they were dropping, since the items had a lot of bounce but the dancers had no problem then walking all over them. Poor bastards having to clean them all up after each test run.
Is this still Wombat?

Judging only by the measure of stagecraft, this one is the standout, imo. I'll always be loyal to the Meatstick gag, though. And the Kung of 92/93.

2 other observations:

-I think the lead dancer during Petrichor (no mask) was onstage for the Wombat debut, H'ween 2013? Nah.

-I fuckin' love it when they have backup singers.

Birdman, wife and co. all couldn't exactly figure out what the 'rain' was.

That was cool. I like confusion.

don't get me wrong.  i love to rage, and that 3rd set was pretty slow...but...new years phish shows are the best things ever, if you don't let your expectations get the best of you.  that rain stunt they pulled off was truly amazing.  nobody does that shit.  that's why phish is the best.

the 2000, 2001, and 2004-2008 new years eves sucked so bad.  there's just no comparison to spending that evening with phish (either in person or on couch tour) as opposed to not...no matter what they play.

I'm not sure if I followed this thread correctly, but what guys are saying is that Dave Thomas sold crack in inner-city DC in the mid-80's, right?

Ha, that's not true. I was on rec.music.phish those dates, and people couldn't get enough of it. I still can't get enough of the Reba from the latter date, but the MI show is overrated.

What in the hell are we talking about here again?
