Rick Porcello - S - Tigers

NEWS: MASN's Roch Kubatko reports that the Tigers have discussed trading Rick Porcello to the Cubs, with the Orioles involved as a possible third party.

ANALYSIS:  The Tigers are trying to get the Orioles involved because they covet shortstop J.J. Hardy and don't feel the Cubs have the proper component to make a two-team trade. For the deal to work, the Cubs would likely have to send pitching to the Orioles. However, Kubatko doesn't believe the Orioles will bite unless they are overwhelmed by an offer for Hardy. The Orioles have reportedly expressed interest in Porcello, so it's possible they could try to work out a deal with the Tigers without involvement from the Cubs.

Best defensive SS in the league and a reliable HR bat? That's not someone you give up easily.

I wish him nothing but the best.  he's a class act.  it was a no brainer for the Mets though and I think they maximized their "potential" return value.
mets finish 4th with or without Dickey this year in the young NL East.

Boom!

Upton(s) to Atlanta!

Quote
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Diamondbacks and Braves have "agreed to" the players involved in a blockbuster trade that centers around Justin Upton.
MLB.com's Mark Bowman says Arizona will receive Upton and Chris Johnson in exchange for Martin Prado, Randall Delgado, Nick Ahmed and Zeke Spruill. Upton finished fourth in the National League MVP voting in 2011 after batting .289/.369/.529 with 31 homers and 88 RBI in 159 games as a 23-year-old. Now 25 years of age, he will be joining his older brother B.J. in Atlanta. It should be a great fit, and great theater.

Can't say I've been a big fan of their offseason, myself.
