my car deck (Panasonic cqc7413u) is MP3 compatible so you by another adaptor that runs an ipod cable through into your glovebox and you can control the whole ipod from the deck, as well as Sirius.  I got it because I was sick of having a sirius reciever and an ipod kicking around my car. works great, but was a little $....the newer generation FM adaptors work better, the Monster one is pretty good.  The original Griffin i-trip bit it hard...esp. in NYC, that thing NEVER worked

I actually bought an iriver fm adapter for my trip to bonnaroo (my buddy's jeep has no line-in or cassette deck! how lame!) It worked quite well with my ipod. Can't use a dock-based one with rockbox.

I have a fairly inexpensive pioneer cd/receiver ($130 or so) and I bought the thing that converts the cd changer input to rca for $10, then go to 1/8" male.  No charging or anything, but it works perfectly.  The cord comes out underneath the stereo in that little compartment that nothing is ever in, and I just plug the iPod in and put it in there or stand it up in a cup holder.

It'd be nice to charge it.  Why doesn't apple just make a computer that fits in your dash?  wouldn't be much smaller than the mini, and wouldn't need as much power.  It could auto sync when you pull in the garage, and you can also sync your iPod in your car.  It would contain a dock that you slide your ipod in, and a dvd drive, and a connection breakout box that can go under your seat for monitors in the back, USB/FW etc.  C'mon

:-o :-o  Now we're talkin!!!!!!  Or eliminate that entire process and just create a multimedia "computer" for your home with a massive hard drive that can be accessed wirelessly from your car?   Pull out touch screen for in your  car.  You heard it here first!   :wink: :-D
