Wait a minute--maybe I haven't been paying attention, but where are you? Profile says Portland, OR. How do you know rural VT?

And I can comfortably add learning frisbee golf to my 2008 resolutions... come summertime.

Just to train proper and run the Chicago Marathon this year.  I've been more talk for the last 4 years, but this year, as I sign up, it'll be for sure.

If you want to quit the brown grass, then move to  Chicago where as of 1/1/08 you can no longer smoke in bars/restaurants/etc.  I know there's other places like this too, but I'm sure it makes it easy to quit.

But seriously, we just passed that law here in MD as well.  I am pretty excited.  I am guessing tonight will be my first exposure to that as I am supposed to go meet a frw freinds after work for happy hour.

They passed a similar law in New Orleans starting 1/1/07.  No smoking in restaurants or public places.  Casinos it is still allowed.  And bars.  It was allowed in bars/restaurants...err.. cafe and bar type places, if the establishment makes more than 50% of their income from liquor sales.  Worked well for some places and not so well for others.  This little cafe place in my old hood lost a lot of business on the weekends.  It was mainly a restaurant but on Friday and Saturday the bar was full.  Since they made most of their money from food they had to lose the smoking and there went their bar business.

My resolution is not a NYs one.  I don't make NYs resolutions.  Mine is more of a Mardi Gras resolution.  This year when I return home from Carnival season in New Orleans I am quitting smoking.  So is the wife.  But if she fails I'm startin back up again too. ha

My wife and I are caught in the same cycle.  Eventually one of you has to have the guts to go it alone.  I'm trying to convince myself to get there right now.  I realized after the last time we quit together that my wife would have a lot harder time than I would, but I'm still weak.

I won't have any problems quitting.  The wife will for sure.  I think for the most part I am quitting because she really wants to and she knows it will be easier if I do it too.  Plus its easier to quit in the winter I think.  Sometimes its just too damn cold to smoke.
