I think the consensus is that the Japan run shows are among the best of the year.

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.

Yeah, they really are. If people don't like the Japan run that's okay. To me, it's overlooked and underrated. 6/10, 6/14, and 6/16 are my favs. I have the Japan shows from 1999 and they're great too. Phish loves Japan. Japan loves Phish. They should go back there and do a mini tour again.

WhatstheUse?

Seriously, 06-14-00 is in my top 10 phish shows of all time.

There is virtually no slop (which was occurring pretty often @ this point)

Cities has got the laid back space funk
Gumbo goes to the moon and back
BOTT has got to be the best version ever (I'd take it over Nassau 03)
Twist takes you on a laid back, psychedelic trip and is my second fav. version ever (only to Island Tour)
The Fukuoka Jam is some of the trippiest, funkiest pure Phish improve out there.

Pretty darn solid versions of Carini, SOAM, and 2001 as well imo.

Bring in the dude!

I use records for that and don't have to justify it to my friends.

Some of my favorite Phish too. There's a reason they released it as a LP. Sick as hell.

You haven't lived until you've had a robot shart in your ear and followed along in the live setlist thread while it happens.

I dunno. There are moments but I did a lot of that summer tour (TO, Star, Creek, Polaris....) and heard tight playing night after night. I would look to the fall run of 2000 for the sloppy playing that WTU is speaking of but there are still a couple tight numbers in there that are not to be discarded (9-14). Personally, I really enjoyed summer 2000 but I think that is because I like to dance and IMO summer 2000 was really dancy.........so sue me.

Guelah from Cayuga Park, Trey completely forgets how to play it.

Another bruhmp for 5-22-00.  Not only is the Ghost insane, but the Bathtub Gin from the first set is the sickness, and the Split Open and Melt is pretty crunchy too.

Atypically great for a lack luster year.

7-11-00 is pretty good, too.

I'll give you a prime example of slop. Trey forgetting the words to Esther in Vegas. And the night before they had Kid Rock as a guest. I was not amused.
