Texas is so baller they could trade Profar and prospects for David Price, and still sign Cano.

Bourjos for Freese (+ prospects going both ways)

Fun trade.

Both teams upgraded and gain positional flexibility.  Kinda like the Tex/Det trade.

The Yankees and Brian McCann have agreed upon a five-year, $85 million deal, per Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
:frustrated:

This is a double whammy for the O's.  Not only do we now have to play against him, but the Price for Matt Wieters just went through the roof.

Definitely, and what a blockbuster deal.
It seems to be getting crazy even before winter meetings.
Jhonny Peralta to the Cardinals seems like it's happening.
Sucks... ANYBODY but the Cardinals. Always.

I know I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I would LOVE to see a salary cap in baseball.

The O's would spend to the floor of any cap regardless.

Peralta and the Cards are a weird fit.

I'm fine with the Yankees overpaying McCann through his declining years.

They love accumulating 1B/DH types who are into or close to their 30s. How could that strategy fail?

Uh, No.  We were 15th overall in total payroll last year.

We can't all overspend and make bad personnel decisions like the Blue Jays do.   :-P

That said, I'm all for the floor too.  It's teams like the Astros and Marlins that you really need to worry about.

Obviously the big downside.
Who knows if that goes anywhere, but he is definitely a stud.

Hot Stove is burning up.

Yankees get Ellsbury with another $150 million contract...

I'm just not scared of their big slugging no pitching veteran squad... until they sign Tanaka and make some crazy trade for another starter.

Tanaka to the Tiggers would be an interesting move.

Hoping the Jays are a mystery team in on Cano, but that's a pipe dream.

They can go right ahead and enjoy that Ellsbury contract.

Ser. It's not my money, but I wouldn't have gone over 5 years $75M. They know that they can only play 1 DH per game, right?
