I'd way rather have that though than a wife that doesn't like Phish or understand it .  That would not work for me one bit, so I just shut up and pay.
Truth

Meh - I'm pretty happy with my situation on that front. My first wife liked Phish (it's how we met) then thought I should "grow out of it" and wouldn't let me go to shows. Fuck that bitch. Much happier with a wife who lets me go do my phish thing without her. It works for us!

I'd rather watch Stevie do it with his own band.

Mother! was indeed nuts, even by Aronofsky standards.  Uncomfortable, anxiety inducing and genius.

Go see it in the theater if you want to support innovative film making.

Just about every show has cost me two flights and two tickets since 2000.  Hotels are always the same but two flights all the time and double tickets is a killer. I'd way rather have that though than a wife that doesn't like Phish or understand it .  That would not work for me one bit, so I just shut up and pay.

Well your wife was pretty much out of commission for two separate two year periods because of babies, but yeah I think it's safe to say that your household has spent more on Phish than most, especially since we constantly get shafted on the West Coast.

That's true.  Except for Hampton '09 when I bought her a non-refundable $700 flight and the day before we left my kid projectile vomited all over the baked goods at New Seasons because of an ear infection and we had to eat the flight.

Lulz, don't remember the baked goods part of that story, that's (not) awesome!

General Topic Discussion / Re: RIP Charles Braddley

I spent this weekend at Utopiafest in Utopia, TX. In no small way, Charles Bradley has been seen as the spiritual father of the Fest. The first time he played was 2012 and it was during an absolute downpour. I wasn't there in 2012. The first Utopiafest I attended was 2013... and one thing I remember from my first year was how many people I met who were still absolutely gushing about Charles' set in the rain the previous year. The positive vibes and love he brought became the manifestation of what Utopia is all about.

When Charles returned to Utopiafest in 2015 he was treated like royalty by everyone. Travis Sutherland (the fest's founder) introduced Charles by telling the story of the 2012 show and the time Charles spent with the Sutherland family that weekend...  And Charles put down another amazing set. The absolute highlight of that weekend.

Cut to yesterday as news spread of Charles' passing. Everyone was talking about it. Hugs exchanged. Almost every band mentioned him.

Finally, as the stage was being set for Wild Child they set up a screen and projector and Travis came out and spoke about Charles and about what he meant to the family and the Fest. He was bawling...I was bawling... as was just about everyone around me. He asked for a moment of silence and I swear it was absolutely silent in that field. I couldn't believe that many people could really be that quiet.

Then this video played:

More hugs with complete strangers... Then Wild Child came out and played a soul stirring beautiful set. Cathartic to say the least.

Rest In Peace.

Long Strange Trip 6LP down to $65 now.  Looks like I should have taken my own advice on this one.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073VDTW8N/ref=od_aui_bia_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Just saw this and had to snag it. Also, it was only $63 this morning.

This is the stupidest complaint ever, but...

My order qualified for free same day shipping, getting it here last night, but I opted for the free two day shipping . I did that so it wouldn't arrive while the wife was home since I get home from work earlier than her on Mondays. I just got a notification that it is out for delivery right now, arriving today, on a Sunday. The wife is at lunch with her mom, and I hope it gets here before she gets home. Damn Amazon and their super efficient shipping!  :samurai:

AAAAnnnd, it just got here five minutes before the wife got home!

That went "from a song about tragedy impending to a song about tragedy narrowly averted"

So now you just have to wait for her to leave so you can play it!!  :-P

I've actually good a pretty good plan for this one. Her mom was over on Friday and gave me a $50 Half-Price Books gift card for my birthday last month. I plan on telling her I stopped there on the way home from my doctors appointment on Wednesday and used the gift card to buy it.

I actually even said that's what I was going to do after my appointment before I bought the album, so I have a pre-established alibi.
