I took this pic on the way in on either the first or second night.  Based on the picture number, I am guessing night one.  I figured phish reunion was a good excuse to get a new camera.

Nice thread.

And what WTU said.
Just two whiskies, officer.

I'm not sure if I followed this thread correctly, but what guys are saying is that Dave Thomas sold crack in inner-city DC in the mid-80's, right?

Hadn't met a single one of you before these shows (iirc).... crazy to think that was only 2 years ago!

Then, second night -- finally me RJ, Gumbo, Mandi, Birdman, Slim.... this >>>  :wtu: >>> was born, and the rest is history!
Phish makes me happy.  It's as simple as that.

This is tempting me to re-read the LSTs.  Although, I have the feeling they will be like reading a 40-page long gumbo post.

Night Two, Set One

We'd regrouped in the lots, met a few more new friends and staked a new position inside the coliseum (Page side, half way back and just a bit up from the floor.

Can't wait to rock this thread again tonight.

I ain't there, but I had a great time hanging out here with all you guys last night.

I was hoping to rock this thread with you guys but it looks like I'm heading down there tonight.  Igbo is gonna swing by and pick me up on his way down and we're gonna try to score some Sunday tickets.  good luck to us!!   :-D

 :phish:

Blat & Igbo were waiting for us in the lot post-show. Good times.

Something tells me tonight is going to yield some nice exploratory jamming.  Just a hunch.
I'm assuming that this is going to be the thread that we're all watching tonight or is there going to be one started for each night?

I like that idea of keeping it here.  this thing will be over 100 pages in no time.

it's funny, last night we didn't plan on this being "the thread", it just sorta happened that way  :-)

I was watching it last night while I was at work on my phone, tried to post a few times, but the stupid Verzion optimized web browser wouldn't let me.  That and right around the time the 1st set ended my battery died.  :|

It went fast.

the only other thread I've seen move like that was the Shapiro- From the Archive thread.

I love these fomative LST rumblings...

I hope we have a man on the inside as well.... paging rowjimmy, paging rowjimmy...

I agree that we may seem some exploratory jamming tonight, or at least I hope so.

I'd like a phatty pebbles and marbles, and a complete scents and subtle sounds...

or one of those new peppy MOMA dances like 2/26/03... or... or....  :)

little over an hour till they bust out buried alive!

 :-D

see, first night I thought no way.  now I definitely think that one has potential.  I like that the game got extended thanks to Fluff.

Ready for another go?

I hope we have a man on the inside as well.... paging rowjimmy, paging rowjimmy...

RJ is in the house

Aacb & 'lope just went to the floor.

Gumbo, slim, birdman, rj chillin.

Tet & roggae are lookin outside.

Phish is playing tonight.

That's pretty awesome.

Gumbo wants Tube.

Birdman wishes you guys were here.

Me too.

I hope you guys have at least half as much fun as you did last night.

Wave in effect

IIRC it was the sort of wave that gets halfway - 3/4 of the way around the joint before petering out. Some sections had motivated cheerleaders. Personally, I was for sitting but i might've stood when it came around the first couple times.

PYITE or Wilson or maybe Jim...or Curtain or even...after last night anything could happen.

I'll be following on the iPod touch tonight. The wife doesn't want me so in front of the computer all night. Hopefully this battery will last longer than my phone's did last night.

^^ sounds like the GF  :-P

I just thanked my wife for allowing me to follow along on the comp.

"Like I could stop you"

Is all she said.

Wise woman.

7:51
Gbott

Look, I got all fancy with the timing and shit... Let's see how long that lasts.

and so it begins.... :-D

sweet, a bit early...hopefully another long show!

who wants to puff some heddies with me....

redrum takes the pool!

Remember the pool?

Gumbo, slim, birdman, rj chillin.

Gumbo's still alive?  I figured he might have spooged himself to death, or a tragic 7-10-99 chalkdust-related death...

Jim

Aaannnd the timestamps are done.

JIM JIM JIM

So, I stayed away from the 'paug last night so I could hear the no-spoiler set first thing this morning without knowing, but after listening to that AMAZING show, I want to know how it's going down tonight...so I'll be hanging here, too.

Can't wait for the first set to be posted!!!!!

I'm so glad to have tasty fresh  :phish: again!

I know, I wanted to stay away so bad and not know what they played until I could hear it and thought that being at work at the time would help.  It didn't, I follow for as long as could until I got home.

With how well they played last night, there will be enough mystery in hearing "how" the songs are played.  And, with how smoking those sets were last night, there's no way I can wait.   :beers:

ytown gets it.

How weird my room mate just took all of my old clothes

<//////////////////#

Passin to the left......

::cough cough cough::

passes

Ha!

I'm at a hockey game, loving this play by play. +k again to RJ

That rhymes. Also, if you drop the "again" it's a haiku.
/just sayin'

Any calls after Jim

Reba

I like nabs thinking

hi marmar!

hi?

Sick jim

Brian & robert

When this kicked in, we sat and Gumbo was unpsyched. I laid some bs on him about B&R and why I like it (which is true, I do like it, I just don't remember what I said to him,) and we chilled and dug it.

I have this weird feeling something odd will happen tonight.....like...very odd.....notice last night...only one cover?.....

Sick jim

Brian & robert

Quicker than phish.com.   :-D

RJ is a robot

That's "rowbot".

cough....:passes to the left:

Melt

Sickness!!!!

Kinda short Jim, I bet they rocked it!

would be extra sick if someone could update the setlist with estimated times
aint gonna happen over here

All you gotta do is subtract the timestamp of RJ's posts

aint gonna happen over here

considering Page's "new toy" that he broke out last night...I bet the cover song of the night will be Frankenstein...dear god I hope not...

for a cover maybe Peaches...

lmao...not a chance

I'd put money on a Peaches either tonight or tomorrow.  F'real.

harpua-->all songs from last night with flubs, but with the flubs corrected-->thriller

HATE!

Tight sick sick melt

Heavy things

I freakin' love that song.

Melt (12min)

my hero!  :-)

it would be sick to see cities emerge out of some knee deep funk....    like the tail end of a wolfmans... or a 3.0 2001

Wait... What does "3.0 2001" even mean at this point?

As cheesy the sound of the song and as weak the lyrics seem to me to be, HT has some nice trey shredding
Real nice

Pyite

I'm still holding out for a Reba tonight.

We're only 40 minutes in...don't start holding out until hour-deep in 2nd set.

personally...I hope they shy away from the funk and continue being something they forgot how to be.....

different

Well put.  As much as I like the funk, I totally agree.

Trey did not nail that. Not terrible

Gumbo blames Fish

Gumbo

gumbo /dies

I bet Gumbo looks like this right now...

at 8:38pm tonight, our esteemed colleague Gumbo 072203 passed away.  Autopsy results are pending, but preliminary analysis points to an acute incident of simultaneous face-melting, spooging, and head-asploding as the cause of death

RIP

Yes. Gumbo the song

Weird they played it as I typed it.

Reba

Man I can imagine his eyes bugging out right about now.  I can't wait to read his write up of this weekend.

TL;DR

Short Gumbo (5min)

Hope the Reba is the one they decide start taking things really "out there."

Woohoo can't wait to hear this

sup dudes.

Welcome to the show.  :beers:

and dudette.

No whistle

Mexican cousin

March 7th, 2009
Hampton Coliseum Hampton, VA

I:  Get Back on the Train, Runaway Jim, Brian and Robert, Split Open and Melt, Heavy Things, Punch You in the Eye, Gumbo, Reba, Mexican Cousin

They will whistle at great woods

Be interesting to hear how 2.0 songs sound 3.0, but I can't imagine this one being much different

True, baby steps.

sup dudes.

What did ya roll?

heh, I don't want to talk about it, let's just say it was under 100.   :-D

LOL

So I have to tell you I had to pee so fucking bad that I went during Mexican Cousin because that song blows. But I missed the beginning of...

IT's ICE

I'd be fine with never hearing Mexican Cousin again, but that's just me.

It's Ice on the other hand I'd be really stoked to hear.

I'm thinkin of a second set 2001->nasty

Halleys

Cool.

SWEET!

Pee break sorry for the delay

Ice

  Mexican Cousin was indeed an opportune time.

And they've already hit the 12 song mark, how much further are they going to go tonight?

Halley's>?

bag

this set is like a Whitmans sampler of music

> Page solo tune

Had to rely on lyrics to spot this:

Beauty of a broken heart

weird.

Not a bad tune, not a great one, but not bad.  Hope they picked some of their other solo tunes to play also.

Guelah

Niiiiice first one since 2000

9/18/00 (my last show!)

This is the trend they need to stay with, however, mix in some PH stuff and some of their solo stuff, but stay focus on the classics.

Broken heart was great. Rockin groovy

Asse fest in there too of course. Perfectly played. Appropriate dancing

Damn

Lawnboy

LOL at my disjointed update style.

Page heavy end of set so far

next up...Antelope

Nice shirt Page. is that new?

Antelope

Blastoplast with the call...

Awesome!  RJ's first post was @7:48.  It's already a 100 minute set!

my insight still holds true.....thus far only ONE cover

And that should do it.

That's what I'm thinking

Maybe one more.

just got a text that the lights are nutty

End set

rowjimmy's updates are the fastest on the net!

Nice work!

I'll admit, I'm pretty pleased to see comments like this two years ago. And to think, months later the Twitters and then ustream were going to make updates like mine redundant...

That sounds like one hell of a set...I can't wait to hear it, you lucky bastards must be having a hell of time!!

We were.

This place is rockin, btw.

See?

It's official, no good songs left for Sunday. Just kidding. Still got Lizards, Forbin, Mockingbird, and Wolfman's Brother. That's about it :D +k to RJ for getting the bad news to me before Phish.com!

Whatstheuse in the hizzy

Awesome!  Is there anything on his face other than an ear to ear smile?

So WTU rolls up on the 'paug section and he's like all :wtu: and the goggle-eyes were intense. Dude was waaaay stoked. This was my first meeting with the guy and, at first, I thought he was way too intense with youthful enthusiasm. What can I say? Turns out that I was right!

Another fun set. Lots of great Page in this one and we're already halfway through the run! So glad I didn't realize that at the time.

This was the night I discovered how well Tequila goes with Phish. Mexican Cousin, indeed.
I've been coming to where I am from the get go
Find that I can groove with the beat when I let go
So put your worries on hold
Get up and groove with the rhythm in your soul

I also took a piss during Mexican Cousin.  I'll never forget that trip to the bathroom.  The dose I got from an old head hit me like a freight train, and along with the chocolate I had eaten, I was on cloud 9.
Can we talk about the Dead?  I'd love to talk about the fucking Grateful Dead, for once, can we please discuss the Grateful FUCKING Dead!?!?!?!
