People on this messageboard

You know, maybe I'm just jaded.
Maybe I'm a grumpy sonofabitch. (okay there's no debating that.)

But this board is rapidly declining.

Immature, thoughtless comments.
Foul-mouthed, unintelligible posts.
A general discontent.

I'm not mr innocent here, but, I'm gonna bitch about it now.

How about we -

a) Think before we post
b) double think before we post while intoxicated
c) tone back our language a tad (words like 'fuck' deserve better than to be tossed off in every sentence. They carry more weight if used reservedly.)
d) Consider, before engaging in an off-topic personal debate in the public forums whether or not you should take it to a PM.

I'll be the first to attempt to follow these. You do what you want.

I was thinking it was more of a phase than a trend - but I agree with RJ, let's be civil to each other and keep it real up in this space...

I had a couple "bad" posts in a thread about a guy saying to not trade his stuff via BT.  I used fuck a lot in that one, that pissed me off.  I should have put it in "there goes the hood" where bitching is called for.

Anyhow, and maybe your post was started because we finally had an account deleted, I don't think things have degraded.  There's just a few threads around that anyone's "bad side" comes out in.  Even then, for the most part, there haven't been direct rips to another poster to this site until this most recent event.

It'll all level out when you buy an iPod and use iTunes on the Mac that I specify to you

Account deleted?  Who was that?  Did a mod delete the account to ban the user or did the user just delete their own account to commit forum suicide...  jeez I hope that doesnt become a problem here...

All of the threads Ive read seemed civil but I admit to not reading the majority of posts these days.

funny, i just posted something similar to RJ in another thread...

and while i dont think the 'paug is nearly as bad as some (phantasyphish), it has had a slight decline in recent weeks.  perhaps we're all getting our "male period" at the same time....

perhaps the "holiday cheer"... perhaps we're actually all assholes masquerading (sp?) as good people....

all that being said, this is still  my favorite place on the net to frequent, and it will remain that way for a long long time. (as long as i remain the #1 poster ;) )

oh, sorry to imply you did, i just assumed because you mentioned that we had our first deletion...

oh well, guess he'll never read my apology.  i wonder if he ran off to PT to bitch about the 'paug?  i never go there anymore, and would be suprised if he did.

Good thread idea; lame thread.  I noticed gonePhishing's departure reading the NYE thread but didnt see anything about it in the moderation logs so I figured that he'd done himself in.  Oh well...

honestly i need to say that some of the excessive chidish and defenisive bullshit of late is pissing me off as well.

and it IS more than one particular instance or two...

and i blame the people that can't take objective comments or criticism with a grain of salt.

most of us are mature enough to accept when we are wrong or mistaken about something.

more importantly it seems that often certain "humor", perhaps of the dry varity, or sarcasm isnt received by some folks in the light hearted manner it was intended...or even worse certain people dont catch certain attempts at wit period and therefore might take certain frivilous statements literally...

honestly, i don't consider myself a genius as far as phish or anything else is concerned. but if YOU are reading something that seems ridiculous or odd it might be a harmless joke you are not getting,  so don't react by lashing out with some childish name calling or cursing or whatever.
personally, i am not asking for a harvard degree, but just some common sense, and perhaps a modicum of self control or restraint.

can we please just go back to having an appreciation for varied opinions and such, and regain some level of mutual respect.

otherwise we need to hire a bouncer to start checking IDs at the door pronto.

Well, not everyone posts from work all the time (if at all.)
That was really a stealth reference to the old r.m.gd rule: "don't post when tripping."
