Phish Funk Jams
« on: September 26, 2016, 12:55:05 PM »
So I started a new project this past weekend to build a playlist of some of the best available Phish Soundboard Funk Jams.

The idea came to me as I was searching for something funky to keep the party going late Friday night.

So I'm interested to see what you guys can recommend?  I'm trying to stay away from screaming Trey solos and and spacey stuff (Although I like that too) and build something that will keep people dancing.

Here's what I found so far.  Let me know what you think would be good additions.

7/30/97 Free
7/30/97 Cities
8/17/97 Gin
11/22/97 BEK
12/6/97 Tweezer
12/29/97 Tube
12/30/97 Bag
12/30/97 Sally
8/15/98 Gumbo>Sanity>Tweezer
11/9/98 Gin
7/9/99 Mikes>Twist>Week
7/15/99 Split>Kung
7/18/99 Piper
7/31/99 2001
9/11/99 Wolfmans>Sand
9/18/99 Tweezer
12/30/99 Mikes>Simple>H2O>Week
12/31/99 Sand
6/25/2000 Split
7/1/2000 Ghost
7/6/2000 Moma
9/17/2000 Mango
9/18/2000 Halleys
2/27/2003 Moma
6/19/2004 Piper>Jiboo
8/15/2004 Split Jam
8/21/15 Gin

Any recommendations?  Specifically looking for SBD content.

This should be fun!

Perhaps 8/13/97 Gumbo?  Or too slow?   8/16/97 YEM is good, too.

Cavern 4-5-98

Gin 7-25-97 (played on the Magnaball archives show)

2001 9-29-99 ( also played on an archives show)

Antelope  12-29-97
Quote from: Trey Anastasio
But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.

The first section of the jam from the 4/5/98 YEM is really funky.

Are you going to cut out the composed sections/Trey soloing parts and just combine the funk parts?

You haven't lived until you've had a robot shart in your ear and followed along in the live setlist thread while it happens.
Mister Charlie told you so.

Sneakin' Sally from 1999-09-28

It was on one of the FTA shows.

It is also my favorite Sally ever, and it's under 10 minutes. So tight, funky, and all-around perfect (imo)
To know me is to know my love of Phish.  :smoke:

Already been done kinda....it's a 4 disc set called, Phish Destroys America..... I can post the track listing when I get home
Who's the Marmar? I'm the Marmar!!!

If John Medeski was my church organist I would NEVER miss a Sunday....

Phish doesn't write beautiful music...the beautiful music happens after the written parts.

<gainesvillegreen> now, if they could get their sound to be as good as the lights, we'd have a band hee-yah!!

Music is what feelings sound like.

Just came here to post something similar. That mix has got the funk.
Phish makes me happy.  It's as simple as that.
