I had only listened to her a couple of times when I saw her open for Neil Young a few years ago. I'd no idea she was the opener until she came in and I was floored.

I'll second the high recommendation of Just Kids book. Who knew that beats and hippies and punks and dragqueens and artists and everyone else all hung out together in NYC in the 60's and 70's? Everyone else talks about it like it was so sectioned off in camps.

Side note: I saw her long-time guitarist (on Horses) Lenny Kaye spinning vinyl at a little bar in E. Village not too long ago. He's the guy who put together the "Nuggets: Original Artyfacts from the First Psychedelic Era" compilation so of course he's got great stuff to play. I just thought he was an old local playing great records (which he is) but damn, it was Lenny Kaye.

Lenny Kaye always visits the Record Palace across the street from the Paradiso in Amsterdam when they play there. I chatted with him quite a few times, since I became aware of that fact. Great guy!

avant-garde instrumental post-rock.

But you repeat yourself

Some things are so nice they're worth saying twice.
