[1] Ending performed at near double-time.
[2] Trey omitted a verse.
[3] "Hendge" lyric from Mike.
[4] Lyrical change: "Boy, Man, God, IT."
[5] Phish debut.

This was the second show of the IT festival. Chalk Dust contained DEG teases from Mike. The ending of Chalk Dust was performed at near double-time. Trey omitted a verse in Wilson. Afterwards, he announced that it was the "shortest version ever" and dedicated it to Phish archivist Kevin Shapiro. Trey then humorously announced that the band would next play the "longest Bittersweet Motel" (traditionally one of the shortest songs in the Phish canon) while Page teased "Charge!" The crowd responded with a passionate "Fluffhead" chant, but Trey responded: "Mike says no" (prompting laughs from the other band members). Appropriately, Trey launched into Mike's Song but Mike had the last laugh: during the Mike's Song intro, Mike sang his "Hendge" lyric that had been omitted from Wilson. YEM contained the event-appropriate lyrical change "Boy, Man, God, IT," a Frankenstein tease from Mike, and a vocal quote of Daniel Saw the Stone. The band vamped on the theme to Chariots of Fire (a Phish debut) while Trey introduced the top finishers in the Runaway Jim 5K race. During Antelope, Trey thanked the staff, road crew, caterers ("part of the reason we're playing so well is because we have the best food this tour that we've ever had"), and fans. He concluded by encouraging everyone to drive safely and noted tongue-in-cheek that next year's "IT 2" would have a traffic-free entrance. Antelope also included Under Pressure and It's Ice teases.

I listened to all of '03 up to this show at work recently. I always forget how hard I laugh now thinking about Trey's "traffic-free Fest in '04' comment! :wtu:
"I used to be 'with it', but then they changed what 'it' was and now what I'm with isn't 'it' and what's 'it' seems weird and scary to me"

You haven't lived until you've had a robot shart in your ear and followed along in the live setlist thread while it happens.

Third show in a row on a Saturday night in Rome.  Much like the theme of this tour, very solid playing here with highlights scattered throughout.  You know they are having fun when they open with a new song not on their respected instruments.  Hearing Trey twinkle around before Walfredo foreshadows his May '99 run.  2001 continues to bring the heat, this version a little bit shorter then its two predecessors.  Talk is a first set highlight, great tune off Billy Breathes.  Zero has been played a lot on this tour, this the sixth version.  Feels nice though especially as a set ender.  They open set two with a charged Chalk Dust, the rest of the set is fairly straight forward until Hood.  Hood has a nice jam, starts off quiet but quickly gains steam, atypical playing and peak, segues into Free.  Again nothing off the rails, a fun show nonetheless.

phish.net - Carini started off as a pre-recorded tape playing through the P.A. system. Phish took the stage and picked up the song from where it was on the tape and continued to play. This show also featured the first Daniel Saw the Stone since August 28, 1993 (288 shows) and the first Why Don't We Do It since June 25, 1995 (144 shows). GTBT contained a Tweezer Reprise tease.

Fourth show in a row, Thursday thru Sunday in Italy, this their last in the famous boot country.  Definitely one of my favorites of the tour.  Love The Sloth, great version.  Out of the five versions of Bowie played on this tour, this one ranks as my favorite.  They nail it yet bring an x factor that sounds beautiful.  Check it out if you haven't already.  Suzy has some nice funk.  Mike's is great here especially the last 5-6 minutes, beautiful Phish.

Four shows in Italy followed by four in Germany.  A fairly straight ahead show punctuated by high energy, excellent versions of some Phish road horses.  Jim kicks it off with a short but sweet version.  Stash too continues this theme with fiery playing by all especially senor Trey.  Hot version.  Taste, like every version from this tour, absolutely cooks, very nice version.  Set two picks up with more readily played numbers from this tour, culminating in yet another solid DwD.  This one features a brief funk jam before they reprise the outro riff.  Not completely unhinged but a definite foreshadow as of what's to come in Hamburg.  La Grange has some extra mustard for those Munich bratwursts.  Fun Tuesday night in Bavaria.
