Thanks for this!
Dysfunction and itemized lists of people's failures are where it's at.

Currently doing a deep dive on GD NYE 82 (12/26, 12/27, 12/28, 12/30 and 12/31)

Interesting time, some new songs (Touch/Throwing Stones) and Jerry's voice is strong (at least for the first couple nights that I've heard).

That's cool. The lack of good sounding SBDs often keeps me away from the early 80's, which is a shame. Have you seen the video of NYE with an extremely coked up Etta James?

Have seen that video, looking forward to getting to that point in my listening.

Lots of good early 80s boards out there... just gotta poke around.

Yeah, I was going  to say the same thing.  My preference is for A+ AUDS but there are countless good early 80s boards, in fact, as many if not more than any other period.

Any recommendations for prime early 80's A+ AUDS? I'll search them out on BT or Archives.

I'll try and dig some up.  Some that come to mind are the Barry Glassberg MSG 81s and there is a killer one from Greek '83.  I also love Portland and Hartford May '80.  There is so much good stuff from '80.  I will see if I can pull some links.

ETA, here's a few to get you started:

Fired up that 3/9/81 MSG. This is exactly what I was looking for.
My gripe with the 80's SBDs is the weird front-of-house mix with Brent often extra loud. None of that here. This mix is great! A+ AUDS for the win.

Killer dude. That one sounds awesome. I think all the Glassberg FOBs are good from that run, and from that era for that matter.

been listening to alot of spring 90 again the last few weeks.
the shit is ridiculous.

So 12/30/82 is a fun show...

Some nice selections in Set 1, I feel like Jerry's feeling good when they play Dupree's, Stranger has a lot of electric piano from Brent which doesn't really work as well as the fat organ sounds which you'd expect to hear

Set II opens with Touch of Grey which feels pretty well developed for being 3 months old and only played 9 times before

Jerry playing the Franklin's Tower chords over the "ashes ashes all fall down" finale of Throwing Stones, followed by a 13 minute Franklin's Tower is great.

Truckin' > Stella Blue > GDTRFB post Drumz is a wild ride.

The encore with Etta James and Tower of Power is a fun listen, not sure I'll go back to that too often.

NIce.  Will check that out on my drive down to Trey today.

Also, the 30Days of the Dead (thanks again Matt) might be the best one yet.  Some amazing cuts.  Too bad no Dark Star but the Other One is awesome.

Listened to 10/30/90 last night and that's pretty good for a Vince show.  Spring 90 is the shit though.  Feel really lucky to have caught a lot of that tour.  Probably the highlight of all the shows I saw, except maybe MSG 87. Spring 89 is awesome too.
