for walking, usually only New Balance or Asics, they're the best for my feet.....I've got a bunch of Vans too, but for skating, I pretty much stick to Circa, usually one of the Chad Muska models...considering I hardly hit the skatepark these days, they last me a while now....I switched to Adio for a minute, but went back to Circa

After that I got in to Vans. Rocked them for many many years, but now it seems the designs are way to middle school for me. A lot going on in the design, hurts my old eyes. I know there are some nice basic ones out there, but I don't see them very often. I will buy them when I see them, though.
Recently bought a pair of New Balance, first time ever, and I really like them. Comfy, light, works great. But I still have an old pair of Vans for those snowy days so my feet don't get wet.
The deal now, for Vans, is to go online and, aside from a couple decent styles every year, you pretty much have to make a custom pair.
At $60 per, it's worth it. My next sneaker purchase will be 2 identical pairs of custom vans.

I have had these same shoes since 5th grade. Well, not the same pair, but the same exact shoe.
I honestly can't keep track off how many different pairs i have boughten.... my guess is around 10.

I've never really liked the super lightweight runners.
I need some nice support, and I finally found the perfect running shoe for me with the 25's.
I get staff discount at the Running Room so I have a tough time paying "retail" for shoes these days.
I have the black/neon SE edition of the 25s right now. Hot shoe for sure, once I retire them from running I will wear them on the daily.
The title of this thread is redeeming. I went into the NikeTown headquarters and asked the salesman for some advice on different "sneakers".
The 60 year old dude then told me he hadnt heard that term in ten years. I actually had to ask him what he would call them. Runners he said.

I dunno dude. I sport low top chucks on a regular basis so don't consider them sneakers. I actually got in quite a heated debate over this with an ex-gf, as I wore them out one night with jeans, button downshirt, and jacket to a play, and she flipped calling them sneakers and said sneakers are inappropriate for that setting. Well, I won the argument, lost the girl, but in the end, guess what? I still got my blue chucks. :-D
I can think of a couple girls I wish I had traded for a pair of Chucks. I can think of one in particular I would have traded for your used blue Chucks.

Yeah, at the local Goodwill, they keep "nice" sneakers in a glass case at the front of the store...only one shoe of the set, and they keep the other shoe in the back...so you have to first ask for the shoe and check the size then ask for the other one.
Well, she pulled it out, and said "it's a size 13". I was like "WTF? That might fit!?!?!?"
I asked to see the other one, and she went to the back, and brought out both in the original box.
Brand fucking new.
I tried them on, and they fit like a glove.
Best shoe score ever.

Yeah...I remember the Mars Blackmon commercials well...the best part is that these have a little stitched in portrait of Spike as Mars on the back outside of the sneaker.

it for AJ. I'll be rocking mine this weekend at GW/Allmans. Yeah I remember MJ getting fined by the league and Nike picking up the tab, it worked in their favor both from a marketing perspective and intrigue perspective. I was an 11 year old baller when the first AJ came out, the "Old Love" version as pictured below. They really caught your eye and to be worn by this phenomenal player it was a double whammy.

Never rocked the NBs myself, but those are nice.
I used to rock NB's exclusively....first 587's and then 991's and 992's with a few 2001's interspersed until they stopped making them.....I always keep some new 992's on hand, they are so comfortable, and because NB's come in widths (at least the USA made ones) they fit me great....

Compared to 574s they look small and "dainty" in a way...also even low cut socks will show a lot on 420s, they best work w/out so not much of an every day shoe. I'd go with a 445, 595, 996 over a 420.

These aren't general release, only available through adidas.com and boutiques. 1st batch was vaders, stormtrooper (superstar 2) a generic SW superstar 2, a Vader ZX8000 and the Leia hightops. Others still to come or boutique exclusives. X Wings are sick!
WW, those are the "generic" Star Wars ones. Looked like gold stripes, with Star Wars logos all over the upper. Pissed I passed on the Troopers as they sold out quick.

Not a bad plan. I know from checking the Nike Factories that lots of limited Nike's make it to the outlets more often that you would expect. Like the one in Atlantic City that was PACKED full of Nike SB's!!!
I'd be pretty surprised to see those at an outlet store.
I have fairly good luck at the Nike outlets too, but it's not like you see ridiculously limited/in demand Dunks or throwback Jordans there.

Yeah, Nike Factory Outlets are the bane of my existence. I am a Dunk collector/fan and they seem to always have a new colorway I want every single time I go. Plus I am a huge Nike/SB head so...I usually have to talk myself out of buying 3-4 pairs each visit.
Hicks...there are two types...Nike Factories and Factory Outlets. I have never seen SBs @ the outlets but the one in AC is a full on store and had no less than 10 different pairs of SBs (Dunk Low, High, P-Rod 2s) etc. I immediately turned and left sad...as I walked 10 blocks from the Taj in 20 degree weather and a determination to stop buying every pair I see. Also, some of these stores do get in super rare Jordans etc. Although I never saw them, the outlet near me needed to be closed down for a few hours after a huge drop. Kids went nuts tearing the place. Stock at the outlets rotate EVERY week. Some are there and gone in minutes.
Heh here it's all about trying to get a pass to the employee store, that's where the really crazy shit goes down.
They actually limit the amount of time you can spend there.

Do any of you guys skate, and if so what do you wear?
I have just started skating again and the skate shoe scene is a dramatically different than when I left it.
I picked up a pair of DC aerotech's and they are working for the time being. I just know from wearing SBs that they would probably work out a bit better.
Anyhow before I shred a pair of limited Nike's I figured I'd try to get some feedback.
Very tempted to try these out as they are at least my least favorite colorway out of the 4 pairs I have:

My main concerns are durability and board feel. The DC's seem durable as hell, but there is almost no board feel to them. The P Rod IIIs seem to have the best board feel I have come across but fear they will last only a few sessions?

durable as fuck.
though i only have exp. with the actual skate shoes... i dont mess with the flimsy stuff.

Also, after 2 weeks of daily skating I can report on the durability of SBs for anyone that would care or have discredited Nike or criticized their skate shoe line.
My Dunk SBs are holding up WAY better than my DC Aerotech's. Toe stitching is still in tact where as the DC's started to rip after about 3-4 kickflips. Also the Zoom insoles are amazing for skating. Amazing board feel and padding where you need it, unlike full airbags like DC etc. where you might as well be wearing boots.
Also VA Slim, I have been checking around for some DVS. The ones you posted are way too bulky for my style of riding. I plan on getting a pair just to wear though. Do you know if they make a less bulky shoe with better board feel?

they def make an array of styles. i totally agree wit you that these are best for lounging. i cant particularly attest to slimmer board shoes, but overall i think they make a quality product. def better than DCs or most anything else i've seen.
ALSO, these made me think about the old suede, black, hightop, AIRWALKS with the velcro LAce guard from back in the day... man those were dope!

Ya, it has more selection but how do you know which ones to look for? I guess when I was trying stuff on for my last shoes all were fairly decent but they just didn't fit quite well on the sides, slightly too tight. I get it for dress or casual shoes, but I'm talking more about for sports.

I wear some kind of grey Nikes with a shiny pegasus on them...they might be pegasuses (sp?). They are filled with holes. In addition, they smell so bad that I can't wear them indoors (I leave them on the porch of my apartment).
Hands down the best sneakers I've ever owned.
They're definitely not sneakers, but I just picked up a new pair of boots today. Growing up on a ranch and having a cowboy as a father, I have always owned a pair of boots, and I really dig 'em, especially when I dress up and go out. There are Justin Brand "Tekno Crepe" soles. They are so fucking comfortable. They feel like regular sneakers on your feet. They cost $200, so they better be comfortable/durable.

The worst thing about new shoes is having to break them in.
I buy shoes pretty infrequently, and when I do (even though I've been buying the same brand for over 12 years now), I always find them a little uncomfortable at first.
I finally just got two new pairs of sneakers to replace ones that were literally falling apart. If I alternate between these pairs that means it'll take twice as long to break in... :|

The Max are way more comfortable that the 1's.
The Jones Beach AF1 are super comfy, tho, but they are made with a different material.
I find AF1s to be really comfortable after you've worn them 10 or 15 times.
I only wear the lows or 3/4s, couldn't tell you about the high tops.
They aren't running shoes though.

I have a pair of 3/4s that I've had for about six years.
They are my go-to weekend shoes, pretty much the most comfortable shoes I own at this point.
I've definitely worn them 10-15 times, they're 3/4 and just not comfy. I guess I'll wear them every Friday to work and see how they're doing come summer.

They went on sale today, they were out of stock everywhere online, footlocker, eastbay, nikestore online. I knew they would go quick but wasn't expecting a total sell-out before 10:00am. I turned to ebay and after already experiencing fake Jordan III's from sellers out of China/Hong Kong I began plotting to have my wife's sister in Switzerland buy a pair and ship here. I forgot about the local Mall in Bangor and after a quick call to Footlocker confirmed w/ the mgr they had my size and were fully stocked, not having sold 1 pair!

^^i legitimately found those by googling "whack nikez." I'm fairly positive they only come in women's and they were designed by some art school student who won a contest in which the prize was designing a pair of nikes. If they had them in men's and they were low tops, I'd buy 'em.
I still never got around to sending those two pairs of Nikes back that I got a while ago. Luckily Zappos has that 365day return policy. I guess I am hoping that my feet magically grow one size while I am sleeping :smoke: At first I was waiting because they ran out of stock of the one color that the one pair is... but they haven't gotten it back in stock yet and it's been a long time so I doubt it's going to happen. Guess I'll just have to get a refund instead of an exchange and find them somewhere else

The military blue is the only original I didn't own. Some friends of mine and I went to the Nike store in Beaverton Oregon just before 9-12-99. we all got pairs of these and rocked them for the rest of the tour.
