really dude?  You all should've won that game by 40.  If winning by 6 makes you feel good, well, then, that's great.  Instead, you squeaked a 6 point victory and we had a chance to win at the end there after our offense looked completely lost in the first half with a very rusty, second year QB coming off of full reconstructive surgery.  Vick looked like he hurt himself on that longish run he had.......good luck with that.  That guy will never learn.  Running Mccoy 30 times a game is going to land him in the hospital before anywhere else.  That offense looked great at times, but there's no way the Eagles can sustain that level for even half a season.  Chip Kelly is going to get both Vick and Shady killed out there.

I don't know, does only losing by 6 make you feel bad? No? Ok, well then I still feel pretty good.

Are there concerns for going forward? Of course. But since only one of our teams can start off the season 1-0, I'm sure glad it's my team.

Yeah, I think I said to you before that I wasn't convinced when he first was hired. But in watching him over the summer, camp & preseason and then culminating last night, I'm all in. Give him a legit QB and an above average defense, and dude's gonna win a lot of games.

Philadelphia: where they boo injured people.

Jimbo, defend these Neanderthals.

A couple things on that:

1. That seemed to me to be more of a reaction to the perception that the NO defense was faking injuries to slow down the Eagles offense. Now, I don't believe any of the Saints players were doing that, but that did happen to us throughout the season (most notably against the Raiders and Cardinals, iirc). So I think this was just more than an expression of that frustration rather than a booing of an injured player (Michael Irvin, one of the most hated opponents in Eagles history, was a boo; a no-name Saints CB had less do to with him than the situation).

2. In week 5 when the Eagles were playing the Giants at the Meadowlands, Michael Vick went down and...got booed, loudly! No mention of that on the broadcast at the time and certainly not in the national media following the game. But I'm pretty fucking tired of people acting like this is a strictly Philadelphia phenomenon.

3. If you boo an injured player, you are an complete asshole and I would never defend a shitbag like that.

I feel pretty good about our position in the division going forward. How bout you?

Finally, watching Fat Andy waddle off the field after dropping a 28 pt lead 2nd half lead was almost enough to offset the pain of watching the Birds lose. Two images will be ingrained on my brain for a while: watching racist Riley Cooper drop that ball coming across the middle with NOBODY around him, and Alex Smith calling a TO coming out of the 2 min warning. Genius, Andy, pure genius.

Maybe the fans were thinking that, but are they doctors? Keenan Lewis got taken to the locker room and wasn't allowed back in the game. So, in the absence of being certain, you end up risking booing legitimately injured people.

I don't generally hold NY/NJ fans in high regard when it comes to compassion and class, either... And for the record, are you saying the booing was mentioned during the broadcast Saturday night? I don't remember hearing any acknowledgment of it.

Keenan Lewis is hardly a "No-Name CB" if you've been paying attention this year.

And to answer your question about the division, I am optimistic.  New regime, 36 million in cap space, a TERRIBLE division.

Remember that time a new offense took the league by storm for a season, then coaches had an off season to view tape and scheme for it?  Yeah, talk to me next year.  I have nothing but respect for Chip Kelly at this point.  He's done a hell of a job with a solid core of players that Andy Reid assembled.  We'll see how Matt Barkley and the rest of that draft pan out.  I do think Ertz is gonna be a monster going forward.

No, my point was any time something like this happens in Philly it's all "Look at these classless assholes!! They booed Santa Claus and throw snowballs!! Herp-a-derp-derp!" But when it happens anywhere else (and it does happen and not just on the NE corridor), crickets.

But, to reiterate #3 above, if you boo an injured player you are, most likely, a classless asshole.

He's a solid player, but I'd imagine he doesn't register on the "fuck-that-guy" scale for most Eagles fans, hence the "no name" comment. Michael Irvin on the other hand was the most hated player on the most hated team, so when the assholes booed him when his career ended at the Vet, they really meant it (I remember that well; it made me sick from embarrassment to see that and I fucking HATE Irvin).

The Eagles are the only team in the division who are ascending; everyone else is in decline or rebuilding. They still need a lot of help (most notably in the defensive backfield), but this sure feels more like 2000-01 at the start of a great run rather than 2008-09 when they were clearly on the downslide.

Also, Matt Barkley was a value pick in the 4th round and I don't expect him to be around for very long. He might be 3rd string next year after they cut Vick and bring in a veteran backup, but I could also see them trying to get a QB at some point in the draft this year and having the two fight it for the last spot.

Ertz is gonna be huge, but he really has to catch that ball in the endzone.

ETA: DeSean Jackson is already asking to renegotiate his 5 yr contract extension that he signed less than 2 yrs ago. I mean, he had a great season and is one of the most electric players on the field. But fuck that guy.

Who Ertz? He had a pretty good rookie year but he looks like he's ready to break out. I'd put him, Shady, and Sproles on the field all at the same time. Keeps the nickel off the field and there's no way 3 LBs can match up against all of them.

Indisputable scientific evidence that Redskin fans are mouthbreathers. Eagles fans, on the other hand, are the third most refined and cultured team in the league. Lemme know if youz guyz want me to learn you anything.

Redskins fans have the worst grammar in the NFL, according to the Wall Street Journal

The Wall Street Journal has determined that Redskins fans have the worst grammar of any fan base in the NFL.

How did they reach this conclusion, you ask? They used Grammarly, an automated proofreading program that checks for “more than 400 types of spelling, grammar and punctuation errors” to review 150 reader comments of at least 50 words on the news section of every NFL team’s Web site.

Comments on news articles on Redskins.com averaged 16.5 mistakes per 100 words, most in the league. The Saints’ site was second-worst, with 12.4 mistakes per 100 words, while the Lions’ site featured the cleanest copy in the comments (4.2 mistakes per 100 words).

I haven’t spent much time in the comments section on Redskins.com, and I wouldn’t recommend it, but if the comments on this site are any indication, Redskins fans have perfectly fine grammar. The study also doesn’t account for Cowboys fans (6.4 mistakes per 100 words) who wade into the comments on the Redskins’ site to troll fans about the team’s decision to exercise Robert Griffin III’s option. (Cowboys fans didn’t appear to actually do this, but the general point still stands.)

That is actually interesting to me. I mean how often do you hear about the illiteracy rate in Baltimore and Detroit and neither of those teams are in the top 10. Detroit is very last!

You can always count on Ealges fans to boo a visiting defensive player when his injury stops play.

Supposedly it wins football games, but I only saw it for one massive head injury last night.

So, how difficult is it for a member of the general rabble to score Super Bowl tickets, anyway? I've always assumed that if you aren't giving the owner financial advice or are a member of the cast of Glee, you're outta luck.

I have a friend who is a season ticket holder. There is a lottery for them. I'm sure they hold some tix aside for "public sale" which probably isn't very public

Foles is the third Super Bowl winning player and second Super Bowl MVP out of Westlake High School here in Austin... so that's pretty cool. He joins Drew Brees and kicker Justin Tucker.

My buddy went to the Broncos/Seahawks Super Bowl a few years back, I think it was just a matter of spending the money.

I was semi-seriously considering taking my Dad this year if MN had made it.

... the very cheapest seats in the nose bleed were $5-6k and they went up steeply from there

I got lucky:  my cousin's company had tix through the season ticket holder lottery so we got them at face value, *only* $1600 for upper level seats. But they were great seats, right on the 40 yd line. If you don't have an inside track, then yeah, you'd have to be willing to pay $4-6k per ticket.

One loophole, if you were so inclined:  prices on secondary market drop precipitously as you get closer to game time. At kickoff, lower level seats were down to $1000 or so on Stubhub. Heard multiple sources say the knew a guy who knew a guy who would book flight/hotel early and then wait till the game started before buying his seats. Now, when your team is in it, you might not want to do that; part of the experience is getting in early and taking it all in. But you could definitely save a metric buttload if you went this route.

Still coming down and trying to put my head back together but I'm still pretty sure this is a dream. Go Birds.

Oh, and Minneapolis is goddamned freezing.

Good, let the hate flow through you.

I'll be sure to text pics from the parade tomorrow.

Better get used to saying that; the torch has been passed. Get used to it.

Not so fast, young padawan.

That being said, enjoy the parade. I was at the first Pats one. It was like eleventy billion degrees below zero that day and there was still a ridiculous turnout.
