Yes.
It trumps that tour easily.
Donna harmonizes beautifully with both Jerry and Bobby.

Best sounding Donna ever

3/17/78 was officially released as Pure Jerry v6

I used to listen to that Harder They Come & Mission every day.

rowjimmy

6/29/76 was the final GD performanc of Mission.
first time i heard it, i was sitting in my dorm, freshman year, borrowed tape turning in the deck behind me as i sat at my desk.
I was writing something... who knows what. i forgot about it completely when i heard the song.
I listened
and I cried.

Donna and Jerry sing beautifully sympathetic harmonies.

THEN

LLRain - no sooner had i straightened up and packed the bong then this began.
Double whammy
Cept now it was Bobby with Donna in arguably the best version of this song ever.

other highlights include a row jimmy that stands well with the above songs, a great playin > wheel > playin, and better than average readings of pretty much everything else that night.

There are great pre-FM Sbds on the archive...

oh yeah, i immediately copied that tape.

I think my favorite Doinna stuff is LLR from 73.  Nothing to high, nothing to loud, no screaming.  Just perfect harmony with bobby

I forgot one more '70 reccomend i had:

7-16-70 short four songs, good recording quality,**Lovelight w/ JANIS JOPLin**
def. a must have , and the next avail. show is 7-30 acoustic , and it fits perfectly as filler , for a cool one disc.

note: both janis lovelights are must have, the 6-7-69 i feel is even more powerful, but the 70 one is in much better quality.  Not that it should matter--you need these. 8-)

peace,
slim.

all right...

this week its '68 i'm stuck inside.

for starters i'd like to direct everyone to 8-21,22,23  this is where you should start in IMO.

I can't emphasize enough how much you NEED these shows.  If you grab one pre-70 show from the archive,
get 8-21-68.
http://www.archive.org/audio/etree-details-db.php?id=15546

the main reason would be the Incredible quality of the recordings of this run of shows. they were multi-track recorded, thus the second vault release ever ,8-24, was an obvious choice to pick from early recordings.

Although the magic isn't just in the perfect sounding stereo separated tracks ...
these shows are HOT, blazing hot...check out the mountain jam licks on 8-21 in the  'alligator'-reprise jam `5min mark.

anyway, just do yourself a favor and check it out.

BTW. the recent problems over at the archive with a number of shows being unavailable for DL, owing to inability to locate on thier servers , has been resolved.  And all the shows that were inaccesbile seem to be back up!   ----Esp. the 7-8-78 redrocks which was down for the last month or so!  good stuff!

I am going to risk ridicule by demanding that you listen to 4-16-78! This show rules!!!
