Busted. Before I could fix it.
Reba opener.
Gamehendge tonight, obv.
Ponied up for the webcast, and while I am always willing to splash when they are willing to try, I fear I may have bought the wrong night.
Stash opener if I am wrong.
AC/DC Bag opener if I am right.
Show time!

Damn Jimbo, you sure do let your newborns stay up late.

I'd rather have him flub the lyrics, and JAM ;)
Seem a little loose tonight.
Well I guess that Bag just busted our chances of a GH set. I would only want a GH set if I was there though honestly.
Eh...
The gin was pretty good. A lot like the SPAC gin.

Only a Miami style GBOTT is going to save the set up to this point.....
Seems like the ship is sinking tonight... I was afraid they wouldn't be able to keep up with the previous 2 nights.
anyone with a stream link?
In all fairness, Rift has been well played - I wish with that level of attention to detail it had been Horn, but I like Rift regardless.
I know it isn't easy for Trey to play anymore.
LOL.
After all these years, Trey is still pleased with himself for writing that Free lick. Look at that shit eating grin :-D

True, aside from the DWD lyrics and maybe a minor flub here and there, it's at least been a well-played set, though not terribly exciting. A couple years ago I wasn't sure I'd ever hear a Rift played decently again.
unless they take the middle out for a walk one of these days, I'm perfectly fine with Free being retired forever. The song just really does absolutely nothing for me.
and honestly, whenever they play Free, I cannot help but get a vibe of "Hey, we're not really invested in this set, so... here's this shit we know we can make sound okay in our sleep".
now, if Trey tagged a jam onto it here, well.... we'd have a different story.

I mean, its not that i dislike it. Thats not the case at all. Its weird, I just... I mean, unless it comes out of some DEEEEEEEP space exploration, and bubbles to the surface naturally, rather than Trey just arbitrarily strumming the intro....
I mean, Free has this massive potential. The song is written so that it could be CRUSHHHHING, but.... it just doesn't seem to have fulfilled itself for me ever, at least live.
So, thats the basis for my feeling on it. Plus, its overplayed now and never has anything done with it. I say that the song could be retired forever, so that my only association with it would be the Billy Breathes version, which *IS phantomenal.
No Bowie so far this run?
Dare I hope for a non-by-the-numbers version in an hour or so?

Must be. Mike took off his scarf.
But it was so awesome...
Happy for the Maze here though.
Free is more an arena song than a shed song.
I mean, Maze sounds okay. Kinda meh set so far. Ride Captain Ride was pretty good, although they've killed the special factor with that imo.
Hey, when was the last time they played Drowned?
Is Fishman having health issues?
The man doesn't look comfortable, and with reports of near syncope and poor appearance throughout the tour, I am wondering if all is well.
He crushed the end of Tweezer last night, BTW, I am not really talking about his musical performance.
wtf are you talking about?
So..was Friday just a one-off awesomeness fest? At least I don't have work tomorrow..drinking one of these:

He debuted that during the Oak Mt webcast. Not a fan.
All energy and no ideas. Just end the set. Take a nap and try again in 40 mins
Mike during the Possum intro is the coolest thing thats happened so far this set.
I mean, that was a rocking 46 Days, but... thats supposed to be the case.
I'm praying for a 2nd set. But honestly, I'm getting a little tired and I'm not thoroughly inspired to be a fan right now lol. This would be cool though:
Set 2: Glide > Bowie -> Waves > Whats The Use? -> Bowie > 2001 > Ghost -> Bowie
Wait, I mean... can you guys not hear this Possum? Trey.. I mean OMG guys, Trey!!!
It's like he finally gets that we want to hear pre-canned non-jammed versions of stuff!
If you aren't as excited as I am, you're just not listening!
I mean COME ON! It's so awesome... Fishman just holding that rhythm, and Trey just says "Fuck our fanbase, you get no jams!"

It's exhausting playing drums like that too... if I had access to oxygen, I may damn well hit it up after a set.
usually altitude sickness dissipates after a couple days, but drumming is a workout. Wouldn't be surprised if all 4 of them were hitting that sweet sweet O2 between sets
I know the feeling all too well. My pansy-ass can't handle the altitude anymore either.

I saw it at The Kennedy Center here in DC when it came out then waited anxiously for the dvd release.
so much for that....
we almost had Piper back, guys.
Piper has existed for less than 2 minutes, and we're into the 2nd verse already.
Seriously.... fucking RELAX guys. But here we go again!!!!
Funny they play that now... My daughter, Piper, just got up and I had to tuck her back in near the end of that Ghost jam.
Gumbo, have you seen the "modify" button?
woah.
that was a turn
This is the first time since Hampton2 that Piper has followed Ghost, and only the 2nd time EVER.

It's worth it alone for the scene where Frankenstein is playing in the background and Trey is blowing Fish as the door swings open and Fishman looks surprised but just goes back to enjoying the BJ...

If it's placed well it definitely works for me (e.g., SPAC '09)
But that was the best uninterrupted 50 mins of 3.0 by far. 24 hr rule be damned.

I thought it was Summer and finished with the Went, my first shows, I get it. Possibly my favourite era of Phish Just didn't grab me I guess. Maybe someday I'll revisit it but I doubt it. What can I say, I'm lazy.

You know, that may very well be right. That Piper.... holy good god. Page was a MANIAC. I'm saying that might be the best 3.0 Piper, MPP in 2010 be damned.

If I can't quote it, it didn't happen.
Since when are you prone to withholding your thoughts?
I know right?
Theres a spot, when you go back and listen to this show you'll hear it.
:D
See what I did there?
lol but seriously, theres a point right before they really start 20 Year Later, Trey plays the Lizards intro, then shifts down like a half-step and then settles into the 20 Years Later phrase proper.
sup? this second set looks 8-)

The Sand>Ghost>Piper run was awesome.
That just makes me so happy.
Nice Lizards (except for Trey's volume knob flub)

I"m giving out +Ks to everyone.
i mean, RJ took an official memo to remind us to debate whether Sand > Ghost > Piper is the best 50 minutes of 3.0 music tomorrow.... so....
On this note guys, I'm hitting the sack. I have so an asse fest of stuff to study/catch up on tomorrow. Yuck.
Imagine copious exclamation points and all gaggles of sorts in my absinthes.
Hood-play. haha yeahhh

1st set was throwaway compared to the last two nights. 2nd set has me thinking that Phish should do oxygen backstage before all performances, regardless of altitude
You know.... thats not a bad idea.
Treys playing is much better when hes smashed on oxygen.

Aight guys i'm calling it a night, I'm gonna fall asleep to this Hood ending.
Its been a pleasure.
This is one pretty beautiful set so far.
Looks like theres gonna be some curfew overage. If theres a tour closer three night run next year, these shows have kind of convinced me to go.

Last night's show ended @ 2:04 eastern.
Ugh, Page wanted Trey to take off SOOO badly there. You guys heard that right? Page was pressing down, keeping it from coming up, and he wanted Trey to launch off, but alas, we have yet another awesome, but peak-less Hood.
Haha, Mike says thanks with his bass
Quality set.
Bowie?
hahaha omg so...
for first night in Worcester, we went shopping for snacks the night before. My friend Sue bought this bag of pretzels that didn't get eaten that night, and that I opened maybe a week or 3 later after the fact. They've been next to my bed as a night-time snack, and I JUST finished the bag as Trey was giving his speech.
lol i'm not even joking this is hilarious.
Fish needs his beauty sleep....

I have a t-shirt that says this so it must be true.
they weren't stale; I kept a clip on them. I just thought it was hilarious, the synchronicity of buying them for the tour opening show, and I finish the bag off during the last show of the tour. They were awesome, I love pretzels now. I used to just like them. But they're awesome now.
