Sorry this took so long, but I'm really busy during the cloud free days right now shooting photos. Please forgive me as I'm not sure that this is within the rules, but I have really been digging this as of late. Thought we could start off with the afternoon set, and then if someone wants to throw down the gauntlet, maybe we can tackle the midnight-sunrise set later.  I do not have a lossless link for this (I'm not sure if it exists in lossless).  If it does, and someone has it, please share!

This is the remaster.

Honest to god, I've never listened to this entire show. Thanks for making me go back and review what seems like it oughta be mandatory Phish listening.

This Melt is soooooooo good.
Agreed. The Melt is partially what made me choose this. I'm sure many of us have heard it, but I wanted to get it in the books for a show club.

Yeah, it's a pretty fantastic Melt.  My "favorite" Catapult, too.

I use records for that and don't have to justify it to my friends.

PIE-GUY

I've been coming to where I am from the get go
Find that I can groove with the beat when I let go
So put your worries on hold
Get up and groove with the rhythm in your soul

12/31/99 Afternoon Set:

Jim - Super fun. I love Fishman's playing between 7 and 8 minutes, really working well with Trey

Funky Bitch - starts out kinda weird. Love page's keyboard work @ ~2min. Fishman continuing to kill it. The Mike balms @ ~6min go nicely with Fish's cymbals. Trey doing cool stuff throughout. This one has a lot of momentum, ends a little too soon for my liking.

Tube - if you're gonna cut off funky bitch early, best go into something like this. SICK groove. Love what trey does @ ~4min.

I Didn't Know - FIRE VERSION!!!!!!!!!!!!1!!!!1!1!

PYITE - I like the placement. Starts with a lot of energy. Way fun-sounding, but nothing to write home about (although Trey's solo during the outro is very cool)

Bouncin - Piss break

Poor Heart - Nice pick-me-up after the lameness of Bouncin

Roggae - Beautiful, Drifting, Gentle, Intricate jam that builds slowly but surely. AWESome

Melt - Rocks. I like what mike and fish get into by around 8-9 minutes. LOVE what Trey's doing around the 11min mark, but it doesn't develop quite the way I thought it would. Still cool. They pick it back up a minute later, and off they go! I was grooving too hard to take notes by this point, but holy shit!

Catapault - coolest 'pault eva?

BOTT - not a huge fan of this tune, but these pre-hiatus versions are interesting. cool stuff around 3:30. Love the ending.

Horn: cool. odd placement but well played

Guyute: I really like the placement of this one. High energy, fun, and of course, the ending makes me wanna rage.

After Midnight: No shit? very cool.

All in all, pretty sweet set. LOVE the catapault. That and the melt will get the most listens from me in the future.
