ive spent the last two years listening to every phish show in order.  relistening to many songs, shows, and tours along the way.   when you look at and really compare the setlists, song lengths, fuck ups, off nights, on nights, jamz, etc, etc, over the entirety of their career so far...   in my opinion, phish never went anywhere that they had to come "back" from.

i look at it like a jam...  it may start off great, meander around a bit, hit a wall, come back together, peak, lose steam, peak again, etc.  there is good and bad.  and really fucking blissfully good.  but it cant be that way the entire time.
