I'm quite interested in what Sophist has to say here.....
Bring in the dude!

So I went last night.  I scored a ticket in the lot for $20.  Laughable shakedown scene.  It was one dude grilling nasty smelling food, and some sketchy homeless guy selling sheets of "acid."  Place was pretty packed (85% capacity).

Perpetual Groove opened.  It is my opinion that they are one of the worst jam bands out there.  I got major douche chills from the guitarist when he let out some rap like this

"How y'all doing tonight?  [crowd reacts]  Can I get a witneeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees ?!?!?!?!  It's great to be here.  This is a great room filled with great people.  Thanks for having us Atlanta, this is our home state."

So after sitting through about 50 minutes of pgroove, and a pretty quick set break, moe came out.  Now until that time, the best of the show had been the between set music:
Kid A (whole album)
Ok Computer (1st half)

Anyways, moe is dressed in suits, and they have a new light rig going too.  Setlist from last night was:

QuoteThe Tabernacle: Atlanta, GA

I: Meat* -> Letter Home*^->, New York City*, Wind It up, TGORM, Captain America->Seat Of My Pants

II: Moth*>Meat*, Awesome Gary*%->Moth*,Livin Again -> Akimbo, Brent Black -> drumz -> bass solo -> Brent Black

Encore: Funky Reuben>Threw it all away

{*Chuck using his Pink Sparkly Strat
% Brain Tuba Tease
^ W/ Jim on Acoustic}

I really liked this show.  moe. was on.  The jams were focused and there wasn't any wanking.  It was one of the better moe shows I have seen.

Highlights for me include
Meat > Letter Home > New York City
Captain America -> SOMP
The Moth sandwich in the second set
Akimbo
Brent Black

I'll be honest, I got drunk and stoned as shit last night, so my memory is hazy.  I'd check out the show, I know Z-man was there, so there will be a stellar audience recording circulating.
Can we talk about the Dead?  I'd love to talk about the fucking Grateful Dead, for once, can we please discuss the Grateful FUCKING Dead!?!?!?!

moe. never has a lot scene.  .rons are more into drinking at bars before shows with planned meetups than walking in the "lot."

listening to the show now but it looks great on paper.

moe. has been wearing the suits since the 2nd roseland show (2nd show of the year).  no idea why they didn't wear them for the benefit show.  people's reactions to seeing them in suits when they aren't expecting it is priceless.

any show that starts with meat will end up being good.

snoe.down next weekend.

edit:  listening now.  transition from Cpt. USA to SOMP was sick.  moe.'s great segues have definitely declined from yearsd past but they still can pull off a few great runs every run.

2nd edit:  show was great.  I just wish they didn't drag brent black out as much as they do now but it was still a great show.

Zman has been live-streaming lately (noted above), which is pretty sweet.  Somebody should drop a bug in his ear to stop by the paug...

zman barely drops by the moe. board to post his link but he does.  he stays away from the archive.

keep in mind that a band like moe. is in a MUCH smaller venue than phish.  getting a stream is much easier with fewer people around.  I missed the stream last night but I heard it was good.  show rocked.

Anyone else coming to the 7/4 at Asbury Park, NJ??
It's not too far from me at all, so I figure why not.  I havent seen moe since 2005, which soon after I went overseas and now I just got back, so I hope I'll like their new stuff and whatnot.
It's just a little something I can bring the wife and kid to and have a good 4th, considering I'm not doing the Phishy run down south, so 2nd best thing I guess....

I'll be seeing them late night at the Northwest String summit this July. Usually an acoustic festival is getting all psychedelic  this year with moe playing late night saturday and the addition of the Rhythm Devils.

My backyard fest is getting  :crazy:!
