NPR will live on, even without gov't funding...  Individual stations get very very little direct money from the gov't...  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Public_Radio#Funding

But the current rhetoric is a bunch of clap-trap...  If anything, it is Fox trying to discredit one of its main rivals in news gathering and dissemination.

Interesting, people are upset about what little funding NPR (CPB) gets, but they are unswayed by the fact that Fox is owned (and funded) by an Aussie and a Saudi (among others)...  I guess tax-payer money going to pay a media outlet to influence the populace is bad, while foreign capital paying a media outlet to influence is OK...  Interesting...
