Hulaween!

Some of my favorite sets

String Cheese Incident
Benevento Russo Duo (Mike Gordon came out for the last song)
Lotus
Ween
Run the Jewels
Beats Antique
Kamasi Washington

I cannot lie. I also had fun at GRiZ and Bassnectar even though I'm not a huge fan.

Sweet! Was it crowded? Didn't they set a limit on ticket sales this year after it was insanely packed last year?
Sometimes we live no particular way but our own.

The Mule last night. They played The Free as the Halloween part of the show. First set is a jamming smoker.

It was "sold out" but it did not feel that way at all besides the big EDM late night sets on the main stage, but even still there was plenty of room on the outskirts. I think they did as well as implemented RFID bracelets which may have helped on stubbing people down (not sure how that works as far as ticketing goes though)

Nice man! Heard the ween show was banging. Thats a good chunk of sets there.

did you happen to check out any other dj sets? saw shiba san or Claude vonstroke were on the bill
I saw Vonstroke, I love that minimal house stuff, so that was pretty tight and fun.
We checked out The Polish Ambassador and the tail end of the RL Grime set while getting some DANK dumplings from Philly.  All was a great time. Two of the people I was with went to see a lot of the DJ sets, they said Destructo and Space Jesus was really killer.

I was trying to get to TOKiMONSTA, but I was too dead and hungry to make it, also SCI was playing for the 8th time.

I gotta say, those were my first Cheese shows, and while I probably wont listen on my free time, I had a ton of fun at all their sets. Especially their "costume" set where they cover a bunch of songs with a theme.

Friday was very, very good. Alabama was a well timed cover. 2nd set was strong - new song Shame was nasty and also fitting for the time. Liz Reed jam in the encore.
Saturday was totally off the charts. Derek just had total fire from the get go. Perfect ending with Storm > WP.
One of the best concerts I was ever at.

Sounds great! Was Alabama the Coltrane song?

Awesome. I'll be catching them in Macon in January. Haven't seen them since 2012. Can't wait.

TTB is really starting to gel.... like really getting their footing as a cohesive unit... It makes me so happy because I feel like they're in it for the long haul... starting traditions like the fall Beacon run, etc.

I feel like they'll be the best band in the world in about 5 years... and maintain that stature for another 10.

I'll be watching and hoping you are right.  Becoming old makes me appreciate the finesse of a tight band to watch and listen over partying and dancing, besides phish.   :tte:

Saw Jimmy Herring and John McLaughlin last night.  Mind blown.  McLaughlin was on the stage for 3 hours and did a whole Mahivishnu set.  It was sick.

But, I don't think our fans do happily lap it up, I think they go online and talk about how it was a bad show.

my wife and I were at the Friday night show. I actually spent some time pre show scanning the audience for you, I figured you might be there. I enjoyed the show but wasn't blown away, perhaps it has to do with the lame crowd. I bet a festival setting would be a better setting to see them in.
Paug FTMFW!

too bad we missed each other.

I wasn't blown away Friday either - I was on Saturday.

I caught the show in austin. It was stellar. Nothing short of stellar. I loved how the last set was done with different sets of musicians jamming at different times.... seeing Sipe jam with McLaughlin was a highlight for sure.
